Man sentenced to nine years for role in fatal Black Creek drug overdose

APPLETON (WLUK) – Cole Simon was sentenced Thursday to nine years in prison for supplying the drugs used in a fatal drug overdose.

Simon, 30, previously pleaded no contest to first-degree reckless homicide for the July 19, 2024, death of Brandon Anker, 27, in Black Creek.

He was also placed on extended supervision for ten years by Judge Mark Schroeder.

Before the sentence was issued, Simon apologized. He discussed his battle with addiction, and desire to help others avoid the problems he has faced.

“I wish I could have got sober and help sooner, and would have been a better friend. I will never stop praying for forgiveness. And, I am forever sorry” Simon said.
