The City of Annapolis will mark Black History Month 2026 with a 4-part public history and cultural series titled “Rooted in Revolution: 250 Years of Black History in Annapolis,” Mayor Jared Littmann announced January 22, 2026.
The free series will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm each Tuesday in February—February 3, February 10, February 17, and February 24—at the Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library, 1410 West Street.

“Black history is central to the story of Annapolis and the nation,” said Mayor Littmann. “As we prepare for the country’s 250th anniversary, this series ensures our shared history is told with the voices of the community at its center.”
What The Series Will Cover
City officials said the program will explore the contributions, leadership, resistance, and cultural legacy of Black Annapolitans from the colonial era to today. The format will include historical presentations, moderated discussions, multimedia storytelling, and community dialogue, linking local history to broader national movements related to freedom, civil rights, and democracy.
