Africa’s economy is growing faster than Asia in 2026 — and the African geopolitics behind this shift involve China’s zero tariff trade deal, AGOA’s uncertain future, and a $40 trillion Afri-Caribbean market most people have never heard of.
This week on The Strategic Lens, we break down four stories that are quietly rewriting the rules of global trade and African economic power — and what it means for Africans, the diaspora, and anyone paying attention to where real growth is happening right now.

Here is what we cover:
The UN, IMF, and African Development Bank all dropped reports this month — and they all agree. Africa is projected to grow at 4.4% in 2026, outpacing Asia at 4.1% and leaving the global average of 2.7% in the dust. Twenty-one African countries are growing above 5%. Four of them — Ethiopia, Rwanda, Senegal, and Niger — are hitting that 7% poverty-reduction threshold economists say actually changes lives. But here is the catch nobody is talking about: African governments are spending 27.5% of their revenue just on debt interest payments. The growth is real. The debt trap is realer.
Then there is the avocado. One fruit shipment from Limpopo, South Africa to Shanghai, China — and why it represents something much bigger than fruit. South Africa grows 160,000 tons of avocados a year. For decades, 95% of exports went to Europe, the UK, and Russia. That is changing fast, and the implications for thousands of rural South African farmers are enormous.
China just announced zero tariff access for 53 African nations, effective May 1, 2026. No political conditions. No renewal anxiety. Meanwhile, the US renewed AGOA — but only for three years, down from the traditional ten. We break down what this trade war between East and West actually means for African leverage, and why the real danger is not the deal itself but what Africa exports under it.
And finally — the $40 trillion Afri-Caribbean market. Africa and the Caribbean share history, culture, and DNA. They barely share trade. Less than 1% of total trade flows between the two regions. But that is starting to change. We cover the Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit, the first ever direct flight from Nigeria to St. Kitts and Nevis, and why this South-South corridor might matter more than any deal with China or America in the long run.

What does America produce for the world ?
If raw material is still exported, there is still nothing to talk about progress.
Fodder it’s been that way the issue is the crumbling dignity of all and poor of quality of everywhere
Not the same. If we getting machines from china we can add value to our products on the ground. But we still way behind to cover the difference in export and import value
Thank you For The Education. Continue Mission!!!!
Brother this is the problem with not just African news but all news today. Why would you add your personal commentary instead of simply reporting the facts. Are you paid by China?? Do you not think that African peoples are smart enough to do he simple research to discover more truth. Why do you feel that it is your responsibility to fill their minds with your ideas?
Be aware that business dealings in America, with US Government, and American Places of businesses can't be trusted and their legalities don't mean anything anymore. Be aware that the Officials in Washington DC can't be trusted IRS massive fraud, theft, cover ups, and blackmail, bribery, altered data, falsities that others can see right thru that the US government can not be trusted and no business dealings or legalities don't even matter. Its a total collapse!
That's magnificent, nubian geniuses
It's about the African leaders
Get their heads together
Not forgettin China partners ship
Long live the African leaders
With God blessings
China buys out land, starts manufacturing companies – 0% tariffs benefiting them
Any african stocks or etf that would be smart to invest in?
I like how you connect all the geopolitics together. Few journalists do that.
Africa wake up, whereas it’s a good gesture for zero tariffs given by china, we need add value to our products so we can benefit more but not exporting raw materials. The difference now is China doesn’t have to spend shipping costs but you Africans sending the most needed raw materials but you can be better but it’s a good start anyway.
As the UN is generally wrong 99% of the time, you can be pretty sure they are wrong here too 😂
I'm from the west indies. Most of the former British west indies share have African diaspora. We do need to to build better economic links with African countries.
You won't if you you sell all youe biodata to US or allow the racist Nazi elonmusk to supply you with internet
Great and thanks ❤
I love the fact that u covered other regions of Africa as well!!!👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
I apreciate the originality and depth of your news
They invested in themselves
We need smart leaders to succeed
The African Union's "Agenda 2063"—a blueprint to transform Africa into a global powerhouse 100 years after the founding of the OAU in 1963—increasingly looks like a moving goalpost used by bureaucrats to delay immediate accountability. If 54 nations cannot integrate their markets, remove visa borders for their own people, or build a unified command structure after more than six decades, the problem is no longer the mapmakers of 1884; it is the managers of 2026.
We up!!!
China ad a growth rate of 18.9 percent growth rate in 2021, while their level of technology was already high that is progress, we africans are still in stone age no technology and act suprices with 5 percent growth rate, we shouldn't focus on growth rate we dont even have food to eat in most of africa , we need change we are in terrible condition, brutal honesty here. Our system is still in colonization era
Are you for real?
Debt payment. Debt trap.
80,000 lb of avocado
Africa build for it self no deals and tarrifs and dumbing scraps and junk dumbs conclude remove all import tariffs and export of tarrifs , Africa use it own materials to create it own product sell to Africa locally madeuse it locally in African understanding it own resources materials why Africa were pioneer of creativity and invented all technology prior to colonial of eroupean.a conclude Africa manufacture it own goods by it own people it own soil not consuming import. A conclusion Africa it own creativity and consumed it own not for dumbing ground for world junk and robbing shit hole sell material then buy with higher prices by other nations .it own ravegeous and own privileges.
It’s a longer leash on the same chain because China is making big-time money off of material that they’re refining. Well African needs to get smart and start refining the stuff themselves and stop sending wrong materials ever wonder why those other countries are rich full of rich people.
It is true Africa we still have challenges , but we still have to appreciate that Chine is offering a different game for us all together, unlike colonial masters, with china there is some level of respect for us and some level of rpom for choice.
While you people keep doing everything to earn YouTube dollars. Do you really watch world news?
Total BS. Too many infighting, too many warlords, too much corruption and no rules of law.
Good luck😂
I am from the American diaspora: how can I take advantage of the trade with the Caribbean nations. I would like to invest , how can I get the information . Thank you
Also I love your you tube channel. Are you also on other social media platforms if so which ones.❤
Isaiah 60:3 “And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.”
Isaiah 60:4 “Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.”

Let’s go Africa make it one nation all these countries need to form to one nation and each president can hold the state accountable for funding and everything and have one pot where each country puts in money to help other little states to develop their don’t have resources, but we can build manifesting businesses in those small African economies
Everyone can eat if Africans develop the Integrity to leverage demand. If the Nigerians would just stand for something. All of Africa would follow and So would FBAs here in America. Love your work from California USA.
Thank you for your efforts . Things will improve. Some African nations economies will grow so big and fast. The dets will become minute by comparison. The bad actors forcing bad deals. Will ether. Check themselves.or be pushed out… aside.. for better deals from more HONOURABLE operators. Keep up the good works. The more minds you get believing. The stronger the spells. Prayers
Keep going my friend. This is to much for me to understand quickly. I hope things will balance up. HUMANITY DESERVES BETTER. Don't worry. The land of upstanding men. Will inspire more to be upstanding. It's making sense. It's just the big picture takes time to develop
The world benefits. When africa GROWS. Africa's TRUE friends. The main beneficiaries will be THE AFRICAN PEOPLE
Let’s get rid of dictators and corruption; recover stolen wealth hidden in Europe etc and then we talk growth which will be higher than anticipated
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
13:15 I had no idea there was a direct flight to my home 🇰🇳.
African must stay the course concerning their revolution. Minerals and resources must be processed to obtain maximum economic benefits, jobs, pricing and financial compensation for African labor.
In order to confront China and insist that market value is more important for African citizens is more important than free tariffs access for African raw materials.
Africa, should negotiate from a position of strength, Whoever pays them the international cost for products produced in Africa, then maximizing profit for the people is the first priority.
Africa should always maximize profits over any deal that continues to minimize its interest and continue the spiral of failure.
Wake up Africa because freedom ain't free!
Power to the people
The excitement that we in Serbia, Russia and China feels for rapid developments of African countries is very very big. We love you and your continent people. Best regards from Serbia.
Chinese machinery are fueling African manufacturing. Not a bad deal. Look at how Burkina Faso has built its roads and agricultural production using Chinese machinery.
Kenyans are also exporting avocadoes, tea and coffee to China. The zero tariff policy was a masterstroke!!True….Africans and the Diaspora must cease being spectators in the global economic game.
When people say Africa is the future, I dont get excited. I say Africa is the future but FOR WHO, based on many things you so expertly touched on.
Thank you so much for giving us this information and more importantly the final analysis and conclusion. This type of information is not circulated to us but who bought the most expensive car or who won some meaningless award.
👏👏👏👏👏
I have an inkling that Amercan economic policies are informed by the needs of the rich, while those of China are studiously informed by the needs of the common people. America wil have to change the psyche of the political class if they dream of forging ahead. Otherwise it must fall rather precipitously.
While they are changing the map to the original names bring back the true name of the continent.
Africa is a colonized name.
Speak the true name. "Alkebulan" Mother of humanity, Garden of Eden.
Time to start speaking the true name to the WORLD.
