đ¨ A subway rider spoke out Wednesday after he was attacked on a Brooklyn subway train in what the NYPD is investigating as a brazen midday anti-Jewish hate crime.
Jeremy Garrett said a man attacked him shortly after he boarded a southbound N train at the Atlantic AvenueâBarclays Center in Prospect Heights around 10:45 a.m. Monday.
âBefore the door closed, a man just ran on and just started beating me, completely beating me,â Garrett said. âI mean it completely caught me off guard.â
âHe immediately called me an ‘effing Jew,’â he recalled. âHe hit me in like the temple area of my head, right above my brow, my jaw area.â
Garrett took several blows to the face. He was treated at a hospital and is nursing a big black eye.
The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force released images of a suspect on Wednesday as the investigation continues.
Despite his ordeal, Garrett said heâs not afraid and is âmore concerned for my community.â
âI mean Iâm a pretty tough guy, but for other Jews out there, I just worry. I mean itâs terrible,â he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
