Oklahoma is home to the pioneers of Black Rodeo. History, community, and giving back are some of the key values and principles that the Oklahoma Cowboys instill in their daily activities.
They are a non-profit organization who are dedicated to honoring the legacy and contributions of Black cowboys and cowgirls in Oklahoma throughout history. The foundation operates independently to invest in youth, education, preservation, and community impact, ensuring the legacy and future of Black cowboy culture continues to thrive
The foundation’s mission revolves around three main pillars: Education, Preservation, and Outreach. They strive to educate the public about the often-overlooked role of Black cowboys in shaping the history of the American West, preserve the stories, artifacts, and traditions of Black cowboys and cowgirls, and engage in outreach efforts to raise awareness about the importance of Black cowboy history and culture.
