‘President for life’: Inside Traoré’s Burkina Faso

Few heads of state command a cult following like the young world leader and military ruler of Burkina Faso, President Ibrahim Traoré.

Africa correspondent Yousra Elbagir visits a country hailing its ‘revolution’ as it continues to suffer jihadist attacks.

** This is a re-edit of a video posted on 9 April in which there was a production error. The original video mistakenly included some footage from Mali and Benin. In this version, that has been replaced by correct footage showing Burkina Faso.**

  1. That's a good thing. However; he also needs estability and the appearance of democracy to cover for international bad press.

What some have done in the past is to have puppet government with elections and a strong loyal cabinet.
If something happens to anyone, even to the president; the country remains strong.

  2. هذا الرئيس الوطني الذي يحاول بناء بلاده وتحسين الحياة المعيشية للشعب . يستحق التحية والاحترام ❤

  3. Hold an election. Give citizens a safe, free and fair vote. If he's so popular he should have no problem becoming a legitimate elected President. Why cower from a democratic vote and a free press?

  4. people have not made the connection that it is not that democracy cannot work in Africa, the root of the problem(s) is corrupt politicians. Corrupt applications of policies within any political ideology will not work for people, in any land. Democracy is not the evil. Post-colonial inequities, poor education systems and kleptocracy plagues Africa and are the main roots of its problems

  5. What a load of crap! Your source is online? Can’t believe I wasted 16 minutes 1 second of my life on this nonsense!
They always use the cowards amongst us to take us down, it’s not new.

  6. Oops. ..sky news just pured water on the often laughable Toure inspired propanganda that have inundated the public space. The truth of the matter is, he's just another warload and in time he will be swept aside when the citizens of Burkina understand that their circumstances didn't change.

  7. Sky news another agent of manipulation. Sky news deliberately avoid all the wonderful things Traore has done in burkinafaso. It’s sometimes extremely painful because the always used black journalists to play their dirty games. Traore for Life. I wish all African countries have a young and vibrant leader like Ibrahim Traore.
