DORAL, Fla. (CBS12) — A Miami teacher was arrested Friday after deputies say he had a sexual relationship with a student.

According to CBS Miami, Miami-Dade Schools Police arrested 46-year-old Leroy Wright Jr. and booked him on counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, possession of obscene material depicting a minor, and committing an offense against a student by an authority figure.

Court records reviewed show Wright is being held on a $2,500 bond for the obscene material charge, with no bond set for the two more serious felony counts.

Wright was employed at Miami Jackson Senior High School, according to a statement released Saturday by Miami-Dade County Public Schools. They also noted that termination proceedings are already underway.

“This type of behavior, this individual is accused of, will not be tolerated, as it runs contrary to the professional conduct we expect from all employees,” the district said in part, as reported by CBS Miami.

Officials have not yet confirmed whether the minor involved in the case was a student at Miami Jackson Senior High School.
