A new study from researchers at Texas A&M University is shedding light on how common fear and anxiety are among dogs.

Using data from a long-term national survey of dog owners, researchers found that 84% of dogs experience some form of fear or anxiety. The study divided those behaviors into four different categories to better understand canine mental health.

Experts say early detection and treatment — including behavioral support and medication when necessary — can make a major difference in improving a dog’s well-being and overall quality of life.
