Two New Downtown Murals Coming to Rapid City by July 2026

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Rapid City Arts Council has selected Mural On The Wall and Rapid City artist Dani Dodge to create two large-scale murals as part of the Downtown Beautification Project.

The public art project is designed to bring new color and identity to downtown while highlighting the region’s natural landscape and community spirit. Both murals are expected to be completed by the end of July 2026.

Mural On The Wall, a Vermillion-based collective founded in 2019, focuses on community-driven public art that reflects local voices and regional history. The group said it’s honored to contribute to a project that celebrates the Black Hills and supports accessible public art.

Rapid City artist Dani Dodge, a multidisciplinary creator known for painting, writing and large-scale installations, will also contribute a mural. She said the project is a meaningful opportunity to bring her work outdoors and create something rooted in the beauty of the Black Hills.

Updates on the Downtown Mural Project will be shared through the Dahl Arts Center and the Rapid City Arts Council’s website.
