EAST LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – The East Lansing Public Library brought Black history to life Friday, welcoming the Black History 101 Mobile Museum.
The traveling collection features more than 15,000 original artifacts spanning from the trans-Atlantic slave trade to the rise of hip-hop culture.
“History is not something you can interpret. History is an actual fact. And there’s an outright attack on it. And so what we’re doing right now is in doing this, we’re really showing actual footage of different parts of history that will never be taught,” said Victor Saadiq-Muhammad, Black History 101 Museum outreach director.
The museum has spent three decades bringing Black history and culture directly to communities across the country, marking its 30th anniversary last year.
