Fisk University’s proposed innovation center includes a large AI data center that State Representative Justin Jones says would sit in the heart of Black North Nashville. Jones argues the project is not innovation, but extraction and exploitation in a community already harmed by redlining, pollution, asthma, and respiratory illness. He says students, alumni, neighbors, faculty, and public health voices are raising concerns while Fisk has not provided clear answers about corporate partners, environmental impact, or community input. Roland Martin pressed Fisk over its claims of transparency, challenged the university’s PR response, and offered to bring the show to campus for a public town hall.

An institution of higher learning does not need to support and advance Artificial Intelligence (AI) but continue to foster human intelligence which has been done for decades. I am also concerned about that big piece of money trump snatched from predominantly Hispanic universities and other minority universities to give to HBCUs. What strings are attached? And, yes, there are strings . I know that HBCUs are ever in need of money, but would they accept money from the KKK? There is little difference between the KKK and the trump administration.

This is Reckless! Is this the game plan for our HBCU'S THAT ARE UNDERFUNDED. The Federal Govt. Admitted to SCSU being underfunded for over 30YRs approximately 500million. Cut the Department of Education and even more misappropriation of funds will be done. Leaving universities that are usually over 100 acres of land up for offers of investment for funding problems (putting data centers on campus) with your students there! Or taking over the land promising jobs to marginalized communities allowing them in. Is it gonna force a data center? They should put it next to the river in Bells bend Scottsboro where environmental concerns may be addressed . They can generate their own power downstream from densely inhabited areas.

Fisk campus is really small!!! The data center is going to take up a whole lot of campus that could be used for housing and new buildings. Plus Vanderbilt would be able to afford it and accommodated a whole lot better!!!!!
