At a recent town hall meeting, Mayor Stan Jacklin publicly disputed the widely accepted fact that the south end of Shelburne, where a town dump was located, is a Black community. The issue is critical as the provincial government mulls whether it should apologize for the history of environmental racism in Black and Indigenous communities.
