Albany’s first Black mayor hosts inaugural events for community engagement

Albany Mayor Dr. Dorcey Applyrs is hosting a series of public events to celebrate the start of her term as the city’s 76th and first Black mayor.

The events are designed to be fresh, fun, and family-friendly, ensuring widespread access and participation — including a kids’ party Saturday morning, hosted by her own children.

Mayor Applyrs said her extensive campaign for mayor reiterated a focus on infrastructure and making Albany more inviting.
