Ethiopia will inaugurate Africa’s biggest hydroelectric dam on Tuesday, which could power homes and industries across East Africa. The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam’s operation has deepened tensions with downstream nations Egypt and Sudan over how to manage the Nile — the main source of fresh water for more than 100 million people. 2. The water hits the turbines and flows down to Sudan and Egypt without restriction.
3. The dam is beneficial to Egypt and Sudan as well. They need to be grateful to Ethiopia.
