A summit in Mali of the military-led Alliance of Sahel States has underlined a growing power struggle in West Africa.
The group is challenging the influence of the regional body ECOWAS.

Not one single country that’s been ruled by its military has ever been considered “great.” Look at Myanmar.
All military rule brings is instability, suffering, and violence. The previous governments in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso were corrupt and weak, yes, but military dictatorship isn’t the solution.
These guys only have support among pan-Africanist because they’re different.
