Ebola spread in DR Congo ‘deeply alarming’

Médecins Sans Frontières has warned that the spread of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo is becoming a ‘deeply alarming’ situation.

Congolese authorities have identified 1,028 suspected cases of Ebola and at least 246 deaths, Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba said.

Health authorities in Congo and neighbouring countries are scrambling to contain the latest outbreak of the rare Bundibugyo strain, for which there is no vaccine or treatment.

The outbreak, which is the third largest on record, is outpacing the world’s response.
