A large crowd of South Africans gathered in an anti-immigration protest on Tuesday, in the port city of Durban, as a part of a nation-wide planned protest. Businesses closed and many migrants stayed home from work over fears that protests could turn violent.

If/when there are labor shortages in developed, prosperous nations, those nations should invite VETTED foreign workers with the necessary skill sets. But even the wealthiest nations have come to the point where they are overwhelmed with irregular/illegal immigrants looking for jobs that might not be available and/or are needed by citizens. No immigrant, legal or illegal, should be allowed to use welfare programs or commit crimes and should be instantly deported if they violate those basic conditions.
