CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Coahoma Community College and Reading Roadmap, Inc. will host an interactive professional
development seminar titled “Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace” on Saturday,
Nov. 07, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Curry Hall.
Presented by Taurean Morton, M.Ed., of Reading Roadmap, Inc., the workshop is designed
to strengthen communication, self-awareness, and workplace relationships. The session
operates on the core principle that strong workplaces begin with people who understand
themselves and know how to connect with others.
Research continually highlights the critical role of these traits in professional
success and leadership. According to the World Economic Forum, emotional intelligence
consistently ranks among the top 10 skills required for the modern workforce. Additionally,
research by TalentSmart indicates that emotional intelligence accounts for 58% of
performance in all types of jobs, noting that 90% of top workplace performers possess
high emotional intelligence. As industries continue to automate technical tasks, interpersonal
skills and emotional awareness are becoming primary indicators of long-term career
growth and healthy organizational cultures.
Through hands-on activities, participants will explore attuned listening, emotional
awareness, gratitude and affirmation, self-care, and team building. Attendees will
learn practical strategies they can immediately use to create a healthier and more
productive environment.
Organizers encourage attendees to come prepared to participate, connect, laugh, reflect,
and leave with tools they can actually put to use.
Capacity for the seminar is strictly limited to 30 participants. To secure a spot,
interested individuals must register online at https://tinyurl.com/ya9xn2we.
