BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WLOS) — A man who was found deceased at a McDonald’s in Black Mountain has been identified, the Black Mountain Police Department (BMPD) confirmed via a social media post.

William Edward Waldrop, 64, was found dead on Tuesday at 500 NC Highway 9, which is a McDonald’s location.

BMPD said officers responded on Tuesday at approximately 11:03 a.m. to a call of an unresponsive individual. At the scene, officers discovered Waldrop deceased. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted with processing the scene.

On Wednesday, the Buncombe County Medical Examiner’s Office said it determined that Waldrop likely died as a result of several pre-existing medical conditions.

Black Mountain police wrote via Facebook post, “There was no indication of foul play on Mr. Waldrop’s body or at the scene,” and extended condolences to Waldrop’s family.
