I came out in the early 90s in NYC while the pandemic was in full swing yet the gay scene was still vibrant!
I met my partner then and we withdrew from the scene. Three plus decades later I visit my old haunts and see so few familiar faces and when I speak with them they tell me that most of those young men we socialized and partied with back then unfortunately perished at the tail end of the pandemic.
So many of these men longed for love, affection & compassion from their relations and communities but instead were rejected and treated like outcasts. They sought affection wherever they could and paid the ultimate price for it.

HIV is spread from men who sleep with men. Which is how women get it and got it. Men were down low. Also heterosexual men can’t get it from women that have it. When a women with hiv has s*x with a straight man he only has 0.4% chance of catching it I studied this virus for over 20 yrs. If there were no men sleeping around with other men the disease would have never existed. There’s a reason why it spread beyond gay men it’s because men were sleeping around and coming home. As a human Caucasian person who saw and interacted with people dealing with AIDS/HIV and racism and homophobia in 1980s on, while I was being denied by public health insurance for pre-existing condition (Epilepsy) and my parents struggled to get help from their help they asked for and gave voluntarily and me being accepted for services and community events was and is a challenge, and I attended community activities that helped people with aids and homophobia and being denied, while I was being denied and even in extreme socialism communities I was being told my neurological disability is different while policies and money for where AIDS and LGBTQ rights are. I have been denied and lost 2 body parts for my epilepsy while having blood relatives and friends give professional medical research in finding treatments and opportunities for people with AIDS and LGBTQ and I feel disappointment and see the divide. I struggle financially and for human rights and safety, who cares, I ask?
after people like me and including me, did a lot and now white people with disabilities are suffering and what are people who got their rights and have financial stability doing to help in 2025 for people neurologically and mental health and hormones connected to other disabilities not just gender, who are begging and being denied, abused and exploited to do and with parents only place if accepted, who are aging and while my country is denying and has taken a lot with lack of need for me and people who have disabilities; including neurologically. I fear yet hope to be able to feel true help and acknowledged not the divide in USA denying adults including adults who have lived through yet financially are suffering living with disabilities with neurological conditions etc, including me and I have been called a liar and fraud as growing up while sharing the home I grew up in and the community growing up that helped people and being pushed wrongfully, opposite to help I tried to also receive support, even in churches as a child I was singled out while building support for policies to help fund and bring support for People of color of skin, AIDS/HIV and gay to get help and build support and I was always even in church pushed back while building a divide, that hurts me today, when I want to support all ethnicities and differences, yet my life and lack of support, acknowledge and financially instability and housing instability, I have to put me first and I need true help and for my parents as age to feel their child they worked hard for will be truly seen not a scene or acts, with help at seeing my level not fraud or pushes that pass needs of adults with disabilities including neurologically and learning disabilities. I hope to be able to find true support and help and be supported and chances for me and policies for people with disabilities including neurological yet not only autism

Black white gay straight or indifference, if I had AIDS I would not be thinking of having safer sex or any kind of sex. That seems to be the last thing one should have on their minds. That would be the reason I contracted the disease in the first place. It doesn’t make sense to keep promoting the same behaviors that got me into the tough spot to begin with. I read this article a while back and said, truth be told black ppl didnt really have aids or hiv like they were spreading out. We were still having babies and even the babies didnt have aids like they were trying to claim. Im an 80's baby and alot of us had a certain gene that blocked the aids virus.
