South Africa has once again shut its main border crossing with Mozambique amid post-poll violence in the nation. The border closure comes as violence was reported at the Mozambican side of the crossing. On Monday, South Africa’s Border Management Authority announced the halting of general cargo processing and passenger movements through the key trade route until further notice. The operations have been halted at the Lebombo border the main crossing between Mozambique and South Africa. It is a major trade route for Mozambique’s coal and South Africa’s chrome exports. Unrest in Mozambique is also hurting neighbouring Eswatini. Its sugar industry is seeing disruptions to supply chains and exports.
