South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is seeking investments from Elon Musk’s companies, including Tesla and Starlink, in exchange for relaxing local Black ownership requirements for Starlink’s satellite network. Musk’s growing political influence, including his role as a leading adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, is helping to break down resistance to Starlink’s global expansion, with many governments now seeking to attract his business. Starlink has already conquered over 100 countries and territories, offering high-speed internet services and outpacing rivals, with Musk’s company using its technological and business advantages to pressure regulators to bend or scrap laws that restrict its operations. As a South African I don't know what this lady knows about South Africa but hopefully Starlink will be affordable for South Africans. The problem is the big mobile networks have their hands in the government's pants. It's a corrupt country and Lord only knows how the negotiations will go with a president who had dollars stuffed in his couch.
