Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger leave Ecowas – BBC Africa

Three countries under military rule have officially left West African regional bloc Ecowas, after more than a year of diplomatic tensions.

The withdrawal of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger is a huge blow to Ecowas, which at 50 years old is considered Africa’s most important regional group.

The split was sparked after the three departing countries refused Ecowas demands to restore diplomatic rule.

  1. Of what benefits has the organization being to people of west Africa apart from organizing one of the most corrupt leaders fraternizing with other country leadership to plunder our resources, who in turn protect the corrupt leaders while in office. Wise intelligent young man.

  2. She's a puppet for the west, this news organization is propaganda and misinformation,by the way I'm African American, Niger,Mali and Burkina faso are doing the right thing, true leaders never wait for their people to follow them, they follow the people❤❤

  3. Please please be careful with allowing Putin into your countries. Look at his history. He and Trump plotting against Ukraine shoukd give them some pause.

  4. What this woman doesn't say is that ECOWAS is a puppet organization that is TOTALLY manipulated by neocolonial France and the European Union (the West) to cater to their needs and interests in Africa. Typically, 1/3+ members in ECOWAS meetings are ALWAYS white Europeans (THE MASTERS WHO ARE PRESENT TO CONTROL AND ISSUE AGENDAS, ORDERS, AND POLITICAL DICTATES).
