Sentiments that South Africa is on the path to becoming “Zimbabwe 2.0” are without merit, experts argue. This after U.S President Donald Trump’s temporary withdrawal of foreign aid to South Africa, pending a probe into the false claims of land grabs in the country, raised fears of what this move symbolised for the country. While some have watered down this latest move by the superpower, Zimbabweans with first-hand experience, hold a different view.

Zimbaweans ran to South Africa when their country collapsed, where will we South Africans run to…the sea??

South Africa was the envy of the rest of Africa, now it is the laughing stock. South Africans have learn nothing from the rest of post colonial Africa. They persist with their gloating self pity about the past, when they had & still have so much. They are incapable of building on what they have. They just want to rip everything off. There is no vision of building a better future, no capacity for delayed gratification.

Sanctions in Zimbabwe were more than earned, you will never understand the election intimidation that went on, the more corrupt they got, the more evil they became. The world was shocked when they saw how Morgan Tsvangirayi, oppostion leader, had been arrested and came out severely beaten to a pulp. That was nothing compared to normal rural Zimbabweans, if they said the wrong thing, they simply disappeared, and few cared because they were poor. This is not unusual, socialist and communist ideologies always move exponentially more evil as time passes. The way forward in South Africa is a liberatarian, free market capitalist approach. When people are given the freedom to self-determine, they will put in the effort it takes to succeed. People want to succeed in life by earning it, but while you tell them it should be easier, you shouldn't have to earn it, you should get success for free, they will look for ways to get it free and your society's values break down into a corrupt mess.

Withdrawing funding is not the same as a sanction. Withdrawing funding is a consequence of perceived land seizures.

Why don't news outlets ever admit that Zimbabwe was sanctioned because they took land away from white people and nothing else? Stop obfuscating the truth with these non-existent humanitarian reasons for the sanctions. The West doesn't care about human rights abuses, especially when they happen to non-whites. We in South Africa must also wake up to the reality that while the average Zimbabwean suffered from the grandstanding done by Robert Mugabe, Mugabe became a billionaire while his people languished in hunger; it's the same for South Africa, right now the private sector are competition to the political elite in their unfettered hunger for wealth and power, if we get sanctioned the political elite like Ramaphosa will have unadultered access to all of South Africa's resources without any competition from actual companies. We, the average South African, will suffer, not Ramaphosa!!!

Unfortunately, the black folks of south Africa will only be happy once they have completely destroyed everything white, I honestly don't believe they care about their future or that of their kids as long as they see a pathway to getting something from a white man for nothing, they will starve to achieve this.
