On Tuesday, a bus overturned on a South African highway and passengers were thrown out of it, killing at least 12 people and injuring 45 in Johannesburg, emergency services said. Emergency crews were trying to lift the bus back onto its wheels to see if any more victims were trapped underneath it, said William Nthladi, a spokesperson for the city’s Ekurhuleni Emergency Management. “On arrival we found patients lying across the road,” Nthladi said. The bodies of some of the victims lay on the highway near the bus and were covered with silver blankets. Two bodies were still trapped in the wreckage, Nthladi said. Handbags, a lunch box and a water bottle were visible among the belongings. “We are lost for words. This is a disaster,” said Andile Mngwevu, a local city councillor who went to the scene. “To see so many bodies lying around is quite saddening, and the city really feels for the families who would have expected to see their loved ones return home later today. Our hearts are extremely heavy right now.”

Sad for the families, but this is how you know who bought their license and who actually went for their license
😢
South African here. Please Sec State Marco Rubio kick ANC South Africa out of AGOA.
Thats what corruption leads to Buy the licence???No bus maintenance Maybe hit a pothole?????Another statistic!!! Maybe blame it on Apartheid or Trump????🔥🔥🔥🔥

All the years I thought a bus is more safe than a taxi, meaning I was wrong, where to from now our trans Dept
It's because they use stupid unqualified people with bought licenses to drive busses.
saw it with my own eyes while going to work
saw all the dead bodies before police arrived on scene 😢
So sad. . 😢
Corrupt ANC officials sell public transport licenses at the traffic departments at municipalities in South Africa.
This happens DAILY, minibus taxi's and busses
So sad
South Africa open your eyes and happen on the roads people they drive like there no other cars they are selfish
SHAME !
The news didn't mentioned ME on the news in 2019 when they have tried twice to kill me in a car accident. 😡👎
My car crashed into 2 barriers, a MASSIVE IMPACT that I survived. I did not even report it at the police because I know South-Africa don't CARE about me.
Sharon Coetzee.
You missed YEARS of accidents, brutal murders, state capture, etc etc.
What made you wake up all of a sudden?… 🤔🤔
Please Father comfert their loved ones in Jesus Name amen
Test the drivers for drugs
Another normal day in S.A.. Disgraceful. Government couldn't give a damn.
Our bus drivers in S.A were told they drive to slow. Now we have taxi drivers driving the buses. And in S.A taxi drivers has the worse reputations.
I see the curse after Israel was taken to court by South Africa…
This is a daily thing in SA. The bus and truck drivers are 99% foreigners who "buy" their licences. So they drive with whichever countries' license they have.
Then they speed to get more loads. And work overtime to make more money. They'll drive e without rest or sleep. South Africas are so used to this, we are immune to see it.
Another thing is when foreign drivers have problems with their bosses, they intentionally crash the vehicles and flee.
Apparently a car in front of the bus had missed it’s exit and hit the breaks to try still go that direction but unfortunately the bus tried to break and avoid hitting the vehicle, in which he overturned. Very sad and unfortunately very common on our South African roads… definitely a very dangerous place to be. Be safe out there and always be cautious and aware.
Unfortunately this is a common occurrence.
This is ehat happens if you have a bus that has not been maintained….roads that is full of potholez..and a driver that cant drive….
And sadly this wont stop until we have metro cops that actualy do a job..and stop taking bribes…and a goverment that stop stealing all the money..and maintain the roads..
Hahahha
Guys me to l am going with this bus but mine is 248😢😢😮
Iyoooo nkosi yami I'm speechless 😢😢
Commuters are the victims of poorly maintained vehicles and bad drivers *easy to buy a license. These accidents are not isolated. May the victims rest in peace.
I will never ever go to South Africa ever in what remains of my lifetime.
Never.
Not if it was a free gift to travel there.
That's a failed state.
I doubt if there's anything wrong with the bus. It is the driver's behavior. City council bus drivers, putco bus drivers , taxi drivers and some of our black motorist drivers. are driving very reckless on our roads , It has become a habit particularly black drivers, yes i am also black but abafowethu nabodadewethu do not respect rules of road.. It is so sad to see School transporters driving our children to school in such a reckless way , Taxis carrying passengers driving reckless . Bus drivers carrying passengers driving reckless. and they are not obeying rules of the road Traffic cops are simply turning a blind eye .The current government is to blame for all the catastrophe we are witnessing daily. What a pity more accident of this nature are still going to happen because of the irresponsible driver behavior
Tragic! 😢😢
Looks like us here in South Africa are trending again these days after Boss Trump told our rubbish president off
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!! Would americans and fox news even care about a bus crash in South Africa if elon mush wasn't alreading such a big part of US politics? I doubt it very highly because most americans couldn't care about any other country in the world other than themselves.
This doesn't surprise me as driving on motorways is a nightmare and a lot of the cars are not road worthy – prayers for the families of those who died
Babophe nkosi esandleni sakho dudu emndenini
Let's be honest these busses travel long distances and don't have any sit belts for passengers just like taxi's. I think the traffic department should have new laws that requests these bus companies to have have sit belts and no passengers standing if they're going to travel long distances.
