The US President is at it again. Once again, President Trump, like his predecessors, has proven that he does not regard African countries. But if we are being honest, “Who can blame him? Recently, Trump’s administration released the 2025 list of eligible countries for the US visa-free program. This list was recently updated and looking at the list of countries, Africans made a startling discovery. All 54 African countries were exempted. While this is not anything new, it just reinforces the perception that Western countries have about the US. But that’s not all. Trump is also proposing a total travel ban on about 41 countries, some of which are from Africa. But the question is “Why have Africans been exempted from this program and what is the implication? Let’s find out.
The US visa free program, officially known as the Visa Waiver Program is a unique opportunity for citizens of select countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business without needing a visa. In simple terms, those who are eligible can visit the US without needing a visa. This year, the new administration of President Trump updated the list of eligible countries. Citizens of these countries benefit from the ability to stay in the US. for up to 90 days without the need to apply for a visa, providing significant convenience for international travelers. However, the list of participating countries has seen both changes and familiar inclusions, sparking conversation around this year’s adjustments.

Everything I'm hearing on this Trump acts are all positive moves to help Africa's development and unity, paradoxically. Africa do not need all these Trump restrictions on Africa in the first place. Trump must even deny every visa issuances to Africa completely, maybe except for schooling, and that'll be good for Africa. Africans desiring to seek greener pastures in America is either naive , lazy or just not ready bcoz Africa is much greener than America if you really mean serious business.

Romania has nothing to do with border security or any bs. It is all political. Romania borders Ukraine, NATO is currently building the biggest military base in Romania. Basically Romania will be NATOs borders with Russia given the partition of Ukraine that is underway. America always leverages such soft power aspects as Visas to keep the population in support. It has nothing to do with secure Romanian borders.

This is a great move for African countries. Reciprocate on the US and EU in order to minimize interference in Africa affairs. Focus on yourself Africa and seek new partners with whom to trade, put up new restrictions on corporations from US/EU seeking investments in Africa for minerals and resources. Stand up for your rights and stop bending your knees and show pride in the continent.
Great opportunity to cut ties with the US and secure your borders control the movement of US influences in Africa.
Moreover, take heed to Trump admonishing those African leaders that wear the shoes of poor governance, theft of the people money and violence against your citizens.
Africa come together with fellow African countries for cooperation, coordination, collaboration, communications, food/ security and infrastructure development.
