Kenyan authorities have busted an ant smuggling plot, arresting suspects—including Belgian teens—trying to traffic thousands of rare Giant African Harvester Ants. Native to East Africa and sold for up to $220 each, these prized insects were headed to Europe and Asia as exotic pets. Officials call it a landmark case in the fight against wildlife trafficking.

  1. These two guys flew from their motherland all the way to Kenya, to smuggle ants in test tubes and are saying they do not feel like a criminal?!?!. Kenya, do not fall for those innocent face and tears, justice should be served, these europeans smuggling everything from big to tiny creatures…..omg! This world is getting crazier by the seconds and minutes…..God helps us all

  2. so do theses ant not reproduce or some thing only never seen African ants films as plot point, the but all like solid moving carpet on the floor, but like millions of them if not billons and billons? it pity not on looking rhino and elephants, where numbers out less 3 digit number on some cases a lot less?

  3. l'm worried about what these ants could do IF too many of them escaped. lts not good to move indigenous plants, and animals around indiscriminately. These auts, could wipe out other species, or do damage to people. We dont know. Thats why l would be concerned. 🙂

  4. Haha 25mm so 2.5cm hmm, if you want to see an ant, go to South Australia, we saw some big ones and their heads moved like a praying mantis they had big nippers.
One we think might have been on a branch, buried its nippers strait through a guy's leather jacket, he jumped he felt it, they were well aware of our presence. Biggest and smartest ant we've ever seen, very confronting will never forget about them.

  5. 😂😂😂😂😂 caught smuggling a whole colony of termites 😂😂😂😂😂 where was the queen 😂😂😂😂hidden in the socks😂😂😂😂😂😂and nobody was bitten among the smugglers😂😂😂😂
My friend those small animals are more dangerous than a lion if they mean attack its attacke henceforth 😂😂😂😂😂😂in the balls attacke😂😂😂😂 armpits attacke😂😂😂😂 and they love human private parts most 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  6. Lol really really kenya? You're one of the most corrupted places on earth and here you are, telling me, you care so much for your ants? There's something smelly going on and we know it's not just the bullshit you are telling us.

  7. Utter bulshit. Ants cannot be exhausted no matter how many of them get smuggled and I think its a better way to make income than drug trafficking or poaching. Set these people free for its jealousy that 's making you apprehend them

  8. Now, I am feeling bad for ants. Humans are the only species that created their own misery own by abusing natural resources to the unacceptable point and additionally, Do everything for the profit for instead of just living with what Nature has given us already.😞😞😞

  9. I just met a woman in prison coming to see the guy from Vietnam in prison today. The mother was so respectful but sad. From the guy’s look, I think he has learned a good lesson after enduring the not-so-good conditions in the cell where he is remanded

  10. Alien life explained……

As a human when walking in the field ant's don't see me, due to my speed while walking in relation to ant's life am an alien so advance. And this is before we factor in our technology and match with ant's life.

This advance we are and we trap ant's for pet and those buying this smuggled ants love to play with ants same way we can assume earth we have something for special that other life form will want to visit to exploit, not our metal or anything else other than life itself.

Therefore hypothetically being visited with aliens we might be equivalent to ant's life when alien being humans at our best with advance technology. Am sure given chance we too may want to visit where their is life and not where there are metal to mine in space.

    .

  11. I'm in no way justifying or condoning what they did but the reason ants are so fascinating by some and a hobby for many enthusiasts is because they are able to function as a highly intelligent "superorganism".
One single queen can create an entire colony of thousands of ants, which together can literally act as an entire "society" of sorts – communicating with each other to develop a plan to break down large prey, caring for eggs and larvae, forming bridges, defending the colony, digging tunnels that can reach up to kms in length, and transporting objects 10x their own weight are only some of the things they are capable of that make them stand out distinctly from most other insect species, and because these behaviors are so human-like, we are naturally fascinated by how they can simulate a human-like civilization just by themselves.
However obviously what they did wasn't rational. If they truly love ants, they wouldn't have smuggled so many to the point where it could be extremely difficult for the species to recover in number. There's just so many things that could go wrong with this, ecologically speaking.
