What’s the fallout from Joseph Kabila’s return to the DRC? | Inside Story

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is facing one of the world’s largest displacement and humanitarian crises.
Instability and violence have killed at least 7,000 people and forced millions to flee their homes since the start of this year.
Rwandan-backed M23 rebels have taken large areas in the east including the city of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province.
And there are fears the tense and fragile situation could worsen after former president Joseph Kabila returned from exile.
Kabila says he returned to DRC to ‘participate in peace efforts’.
But President Felix Tshisekedi’s government accuses him of backing M23.
So, wow will Kabila’s return affect the shaky security environment?
And what can the Congolese government do to deal with the crisis??

  1. Kabilla is after looting minerals he don't mind about fixing anything Felix is also a looter kabilla just hand him power with rigged elections m23 are fredoom fighter to liberate drc from Belgium and looting resources politician s

  2. WHAT AMBITION IS HE TALKING ABOUT? PRESIDENT KABILA HAS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE HIS LEGACY OF PEACE IS MAINTAINED. HIS COUNTRY IS BE DESTROY BY THIS FOOL WHO DOEA WANT TO MAINTAIN PEACE WITH HIS PEOPLE IN COUNTRY AND NEIGHBOURS WHICH SOMETHING PRESIDENT KABILA FOR 18 YEARS.

THIS FOOL WHO CURRENT PRESIDENT WHO SEES ENEMY TO EVERYONE IN HIS COUNTRY AND HIS NEIGHBOR. PRESIDENT KABILA HAS RESPONSIBILITY TO HELP HIS COUNTRY BACK TO PEACE SO DEVELOPMENT CAN TAKE PLACE.

  3. He's the partner of M23 he caused this situation worse by betraying our country with Kagame 18 years led the country ruled by his Rwandan people, fake son of Lautent Kabila and killed him he's not our brother he belongs to Rwanda if he's forcing to come back then he's going to pay for what he did in DRC he's involved in killing 12 millions people in the DRC with his Rwandan government. He's the founder of AFC and Kagame is the founder of M23. Their end is now we don't want him otherwise he'll ends up badly in our land. Viva Drc 🇨🇩✊🏾

  4. No no no dream on this rwandese guy talking rubbish at his fullest Rwanda people spreading lies taught by their government and their father Kagame 😅😅😅 , Al-Jazeera failed to meet the right people to discuss the Drc issue…😅😂😂 All lies !!! Rubbish!!! I always rely on al Jazeera news but im so disappointed!!! Same apply with lies on Tv5 now 😂😂😂
NB the Drc people are busy writing it's own history now as said Patrice Lumumba soon or later y'all going to know the right story… 😂😂😂 All we want now to free our country!!! 🇨🇩✊🏾

  5. Al Jazeera, how come you have three speakers talking about Congo And not a single Congolese among them. And curiously, all your speakers seem to be in favor of the M23 and Rwanda. In the near future, make sure to balance them to make the two opposing positions available to the public..

  6. The problem with you Easten African Region you are too much subjective. DURING Kabila few politicians emerged to lead DR Congo for the same fear of REBELS.

He managed to stabilise the Country,he put a Government that was not there before just that he had a weak Cabinet of weak characters.

  7. That's Museveni and Kagame trying to install their tool for their masters in the destabilisation of out motherland Africa. These two dictators are making our people live in refugee camps and live in destitution yet we have all we need. Look at how Museveni is untouchable and blamed Uganda despite his grave human rights violations! Negative karma will strike them bad guys towards us African friendly people

  8. Joseph kabila is a Rwandan origin and a serious danger to the Congolese people, with the objective to destroy congo to the bones
Now its evident that Rwanda, M23 and kabila are one to massacre Congoles

Kabila 18 years in power he destroyed the country and made himself a billionaire instead while the whole country wallows in poverty

  9. Non of these people discussing this issue have ever been to Congo.
They have no idea what they're talking about.
The whole 'No Roads' thing is not as simple as they make it seem.

  10. Kabila deserves jail for his entire life including his wife and children. He is the one causing that chaos on Eastern Congo 🇨🇩. He gave all key Military positions to his native Country brothers of Rwanda and he stayed in power for over 18 years causing more chaos. I can't wait if I become a president in that Congo

  11. Analysts lack key elements of the issue except one. Kabila's tightness with M23 is apparent. I will point out some other facts here. Today, M23 is no longer the sole force in action. AFC with Corneille Naanga has boosted the political visibility of M23, which has been defeated several times in the past. Corneille Naanga and Kabila have firm tights. Kabila and Naanga concocted the deal that brought Tshisekedi into power. Kabila and Naanga shared more profound business complicity in the region of Katanga as well. Yes, through Corneille, Naanga Kabila has been connected to the M23. As a former President, Kabila has one of the best job in earth. He has advantages, including $650k per month for doing nothing. He has a security deal with Tshisekedi to run businesses without interference in the country. He has lands and riches accumulated through his period of power that nobody can estimate. As a lifetime Senator, Kabila should have played a different role than activating the divide.

  12. This people you do with them the meeting is the Rwanda 🇷🇼people the are together with kabila. If you need to know more about kabila and about drc go to theme places, stopping do what you're doing now, is this not true

  13. Why are corrupt leaders like Kabila who have made few if any improvements in the lives of their people given access to power? Traore has made more changes and improvements in Burkina Faso in 3 years than many other leaders have made in decades. The effectiveness of leadership should be based on their ability to mobilize human, agricultural and mineral resources to elevate and improve the lives of the people and their environment. What have these leaders accomplished other than increasing their own personal wealth at the detriment of their citizens. Why are ECOWAS and the African Union so ineffective in standing up to their former colonizers and challenging the status quo’s. There are nations in the world who have military bases in the United States 🇺🇸, why are there so many USA military bases in Africa, Asia and Europe. African leaders need to reevaluate their relationships with foreign governments that have not positively impacted the political and economic stability of Africa. African leaders must engage in intercontinental trade and economic development by building and maintaining the infrastructure needed to sustain their progress. Western nations do not want Africa to emerge as a self sufficient global power.

  14. The old, inefficient systems established by imperialist nations like America, England, France, Germany and others that have not demonstrated success must be abolished . Africa needs its own currency and financial institutions that would enable African nations to collaborate and work collectively to achieve their objectives and emerge as an industrial power free of outside interference and exploitation.
