US citizens migrating to Africa: A growing number of black Americans relocate to Kenya

A growing community of Black Americans is making Kenya their new home, driven by a desire to escape systemic racism in the United States and find a deeper connection with their ancestral heritage. Many see Africa, and Kenya in particular, as a place of opportunity, healing, and cultural belonging. From starting businesses to forming vibrant communities, their presence is reshaping parts of Nairobi.

Al Jazeera’s Malcolm Webb reports from Nairobi.

  1. never going to work. These people are idiots. Plus Nigerians are very christian and hardworking conservative people.. They are not selfish or entitled

  2. Yeah I think East Africa is the right choice for the diaspora and I say so as a West African. Things work better there. Too much nonsense going on in West Africa. As for America well the system there is designed for you to fail and nearly impossible to beat it. Hard work? Self discipline? All nonsense. Its a rigged system.

  3. A friend of mine recently moved from the United States to Kenya. He purchased a 10-acre piece of land for Ksh 15 million and built a house worth another Ksh 15 million. He also mentioned having Ksh 70 million invested in a money market account with a Kenyan bank, earning an average annual return of 12%.

According to him, he no longer needs to work for the rest of his life. He comfortably lives off the interest from his investments, takes his family on safaris regularly, and spends part of his time training local youth in IT skills. Remarkably, he only uses about 10% of his monthly budgeted income.

For the first time in many years, he has enjoyed two full years completely debt-free. His health has improved significantly, and his family is thriving. His wife, who was once considering divorce while they lived in America, has since apologized—she says the pressure of American life had taken its toll.

Now, he’s looking to buy more land, as more than 20 white families are planning to relocate to Kenya over the next five years.

  4. I love Kenyan Native Women, one of my team members is Kenyan she’s truly amazing smart and warm. I hired 2 other women from Nigeria. I absolutely love my team. They are giving and the level of care is bar none. I took the trip to Nigeria to speak at a tech & entrepreneur startup up conference ( my life was altered) forever. If my husband wasn’t a newly amputee and my granddaughter graduated HS we would choose a new life. What I want is to create a dual home. Gotta figure it out.

  5. Good, hope they’re happy. Their culture clashes with western culture, so it would be better if they go to their own countries. Countries can work with each other and be friends because they don’t with each other. Much more effective and efficient and peaceful for everyone.

  6. Awesome! Africa will shape the next workd order! Be in the right place of history by moving to Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪
I got 10Acres up for grab near Mariakani Town along the Mombasa Nairobi highway and it's in the Coast, 30km from Mombasa Island . The land is going for $30,000 @acre and you have to buy it all. Title Deed Available! Grab a piece of the African soil with me!!

  8. Youre still listening to the american music. So youre pretty much taking everything you learned from america to nigeria. Wont be long until even the political mindset gets taken there especially with billionaires trying to buy up every single piece of earthly land

  9. KELIS 150 acres has now turned to 300 acres when Naivasha has over 3 million displaced landless Kenyans. It's now clear these people are looking to exploit the locals in the name of healing but in real sense are gobbling up properties they can't afford in USA.

  10. Kenya is beautiful country, with kind people. I'm a Kenyan and after almost 8yrs in Europe, I miss Kenya, in Europe your always reminded that you don't belong here 😂😮.

  11. You can choose to live anywhere in Africa to be honest. If one country in Africa doesnt work for you, move to another country. Don't buy a house until you have lived in a rented apt to experience what is like.
