They are not deliberately making rich nations look 'bigger'. Palki, you stupid or something? You just can't project a 3D surface onto a 2D plane and expect it to be correct. It distorts itself doing so. This is one of the many cases which show the Indian media is clearly biased. PATHETIC!
its necessary for decision making, equal earth map just need to factor acreage and the size will be perfect. All decision makers need perfect maths for non just add up to miscalculation. Imagine you have a size of a country smaller than an African one ten times, then its population is one hundred times, then you try to make decision in comparison to the two nation while one is a GIANT in relation to the other one.
In other words this is why a perfect decision in Europe wont work in African countries, ruling here feels like the throne is too big for certain individuals when they try to emulate Europe for lack of deeper understanding and we end up with mismatched policies that are devastating here on Africa.
To be fair how can as explained lead to a country that is 1,000 times gait when we factor land mass and respective population, then maths doesn't end there, for nothing is linear on earth. This people are say 1,000 poorer in relation to the west ( a certain solution can be sold there where here wont find buyers), that make our complexity 1,000,000 times inverse to the west. SEE THE GIANT AM TALKING ABOUT.
Decision maker like world bank, UN, investors, politicians to scientist and researchers without this clue, cant offer any meaningful decision something certain people felt from gut brain without this information for things here have persisted for to long.
Imagine a rich Africa and people don't buy yacht, we will colonize space in short for that is the mankind destiny.

Without sounding any alarm but facts of life, say Africa get rich vs it remain even poorer going forward, then disaster struck that are like ice age era or asteroid hit, those magnitude you get the idea. Then during this two cinereal which one do you think will accommodate sudden arrivals of foreigners to shelter here. I think a rich Africa will accommodate so much with harmony off the roof, while a poor Africa will be too busy with internal conflict that wont tolerate new arrivals to the instability that will be here and long mistrust issues that to my standard are overdue by now.
As long as Africa is poor and there is a disaster don't count on shelter here, For any number of population is supported by the advancement of its tech, when we are poor our sophistication wont cut it. No matter how hard we would love to but our tech will be too inferior to host that influx of people. This is what we mean with wrong map resulted in years of miscalculation and ever wrong decision to the very day.

It took many Indians, Africans and Chinese cartographer in ancient time to map the globe. Yet only one white man Gerardus Mercator sitting in his cold and dark basement apartment in Europe charted the globe, why a scam? White people are thieves they steal intellectual knowledge from around the world because the white people only brought death and destruction to the world nothing else. In 1561 the Europeans believed the world was flat. It was a black man who navigated Christopher Columbus to the Caribbean Islands.
Do they teach any mathematics in Africa I wonder. Any projection of a sphere on a flat surface gives distortions, duh. The Mercator map is optimal at preserving angles. Kind of usefull for navigational maps. Sure, you can use other projections if it hurts some feelings, but best stick with Mercator for any smaller than world view. As the main purpose of maps is navigation, not politics. As this guy Mercator understood 500 years ago.

disclaimer : every map tells you that places away from the equator are distorted, the farther away greater the distortion … you just have to read the fine print
Landmasses around the equator are proportionally reduced and those at the poles increased (stretched) to manage a flat map from a round world. Unfortunately inventiveness, innovations, social structure happens to be historically less in warmer climates, just a matter of geography. Progress in temperate climate regions was faster and these countries unfortunately, wrongly and sadly decided to use that progress to dominate less advanced countries.

The Mercator map is about as ideological as 1 + 1 = 2. It's a mathematical algorithm. The best map type for GPS and navigation which is what most maps are used for.

This nonsense is cheap geopolitical expediency. On a Mercator (and no other projection) projection the land within the tropics (not only Africa) is correct to scale and shape. Only areas far north and far south are distorted. Knowledge before slogans.
