But if Traore is a fraudster as these people claim, why is the West still scrambling to deepen ties with Burkina Faso under Traore’s leadership? You see, when General Langley made that outrageous statement about President Traore, he never knew the backlash he and the US would receive from the entire Pan-African Community. But that is exactly what happened. And now, just a few days ago, President Trump sent an envoy to Burkina Faso to meet with Traore to diplomatically apologize on behalf of General Langley and the US. The purpose of the meeting was also to discuss the possibility of renewing ties between Burkina Faso and the US. The question is “Should Burkina Faso agree to renew ties with the US? And if it does, what should be the nature of the partnership? We are going to unpack all of these and more in this video.
On May 27th, 2025, the US Under Secretary of State for West Africa, Mr. Will Stevens paid a visit to the capital city of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou. In the evening of the same day, he was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabè Abroad. After exchanging warm greetings, the American emissary stated that he came to renew the United States’ desire to rebuild solid cooperation with Burkina Faso.
