Family announces former Zambian President, Edgar Lungu to be laid to rest in SA

The family of the late former Zambian President, Edgar Lungu has announced that Lungu will be buried in South Africa.

This after a feud between the family and the Zambian government not reaching an agreement on how to send-off the former leader.

Lungu died while in South Africa receiving a specialised medical treatment.

  1. PS: If ECL had just bolstered the quality of Zambian healthcare, he would still be on Zambian soil and this whole tug-of-corpse storyline could've been avoided.

  2. Is this the first funeral in the Lungu family may be ? As i know Ordinary people if they spent so much days like this wothout buring their loved one the community will force them to act accordingly so why is it that this family acts reverse wise

  3. If it was a Zimbabwean president died in SA hospitals ,xenophobia could have said why he didn't build hospitals in Zimbabwe but because its not a Zimbabwean issue xenophobians are not saying anything ,i think Zimbabwe must change the name to Zambiano.

  4. It doesn't matter where he is buried, whether he is thrown into the sea or thrown to lions, it doesn't matter, he is facing eternity and that's what matters, his soul where it is matters not his body.

  5. Find another another person to discuss this matter Sophie is now taking sides instead of getting the facts together, what is going on behind the scenes? People want to know the problem between the family amd the government.

  6. national mourning was and has always been 7 days, he extended to another 9 to allow the country to bury Dr ECL, the family decided not to bring out the body hence the 9 days extension becomes invalid however HH mentioned the government is open to any discussions meaning if at any point the family changes minds the government will certainly have to give Dr ECL a dignified funeral, so in short national mourning was over a long time ago the extension was only for the country to bury but since the family changed minds the extension was irrelevant

  7. When you are tired of fighting Lungu corpse South Africa will be ready to repatriate your former president back to Zambia. For now emotions are to high amongst Zambian people. Both family and government must settle their differences in order to do the right thing.

  8. The family forgot that they will have to foot the private funeral expenses themselves. The Zambian government has completely washed its hands off this funeral.

  9. Allow our ECL rest in peace plz😢the family has the final decision and we should respect them.whatever their doin it the wish of the former head of state.no one can go againt the wish of the dead period!!

  10. I like what is playing out about this funeral

You can’t hate people when they are still alive and expect to participate in their burial or funeral.

I fully support the family. Let the wishes of former President be respected please.

HH didn’t extend an olive branch to Lungu to a point where Lungu went and seek refuge in SA.

There is a lesson to be learned here. Stop hating people when they are alive and love them when they are dead.
