Its Topical | SA’s Web of Crime – Alleged links between  politicians and criminal syndicates

What’s taking up most of the oxygen here in South Africa of late?
Crime.
Serious allegations of corruption.
This country is dealing with what some might describe as a complex and pervasive web of crime.
How connected is this web of crime?
Also, to what extent is politics killing policing?

To discuss this, we have Criminologist Prof Kholofelo Rakubu. We also have Organised Crime Investigator Chad Thomas from the from IRS Forensic Investigations, and the Executive Secretary of the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (CASAC) Lawson Naidoo, as well as Specialist Investigator Mike Bolhuis.

The digital audience also weigh in.

  1. We dont need a commission of enquiry…if we have the proof, it should go to court, and an independent judge that is not aligned or bought by the ANC… then we can put these criminals away for a very long time

  2. The disparity between the two ministers is that the one minister has defied the president and as such there was no need for any investigation whilst the other has been accused and there is no evidence before him that allows him to fire Mchunu so therefore he would not fire somebody for allegations that has not been validated so far.

  3. You also need to reintroduce community policing to improve police/ community relations which is ANC policy but is not being implemented. The ANC therefore does not implement its own policies

  4. Follow the money. O Sullivan expressed his expertise, claiming he is the only one in the world with that sort of expertise. But, he is an ANC lollipop.

  5. How can Mchunu be cleared, he has lied to parliament. He instructed Sibiya to dismantle the Task force dealing with political killings, he removed 121 files of active investigations of criminals. The ANC continues to project its own, as it has always done, look at the Zondo Commission.

  6. Naaidoo , Mhkwanazi's allegations are not untested, they were totally ignored by parliament in march and have only come to light with a public media brief by him.

  7. Mkhwanazi is the one who revealed the truth why Rmzs delegate other people let Mkhwanazi continue doing his job and given the zMinistrial position of zPolice period

  8. Our president son and relatives are involved in Thembisa Hospitals killing of Babita. So criminals syndicates are part and parcel of the president. Ramaphosa is evil when it comes to money he has more demons than Lucifer.
