  1. Higher tariffs lead to either increased prices for consumers or reduced profit margins for businesses—neither outcome is ideal for our economy both long term and short term, anybody that says this is not a big deal in a country with a hemorrhaging economy is completely ignorant or a liar. Make no mistake the ANC's arrogance and flippant behaviour is the reason for all of this and I think we are only seeing the beginning.

  2. As South Africa we must fix our covement problems and carry on with Bricks nations we cannot be controlled by the West for ever no turning back South Africa has brilliant people to take country forward

  3. For once the sabc and enca (or e-anc) mouth pieces look total fools. Watch next how they blame trump when it was ramapoes who said "leave us alone" .. idiots these okes thinking we all stupid.

  4. Please interview Naledi Pandor who is always volbek with her foreign policy posturing and siding with Trump's enemies! Ja praat nou Naledi with that grootbek of yours. How much does she earn a month I wonder!

  5. How does Newsroom Afrika live with itself after they were part of spreading propaganda for the corrupt and inept ANC government? These problems are a result of YOUR corrupt masters looting and spreading racial hatred, while doing nothing to stop this disaster.

  6. Am happy for those White Afrikaner farmers, those farmers support Afriforum, Afriforum went to the US government under the Republican party and requested such, they got it, those tariffs should have been 80%. I pray they loose all their business, am so happy right now.

  7. We've just invested R8.9 million in new machinery with the goal of exporting products to the U.S. — only to now face a crippling 30% tariff. This decision directly impacts businesses like mine that were actively working to bring foreign income into South Africa and stimulate job creation.

Thanks to our incompetent leadership, the ANC, and a president with no grasp of economic realities, our margins have plummeted. We’ve gone from 45% profit to just 15%. That means for every R1 million we make, we only see R150,000. To see a R5 million profit, we’ll now need to do over R100 million in turnover. This makes our export strategy — the very one we based our capital investment on — almost financially unviable.

We can’t compete with China because they’re already producing at ultra-low costs. BRICS, for all the hype, has offered no real trade benefit. The U.S. was one of the only markets where we had a competitive edge because of our currency — and now even that is gone.

This decision doesn’t just hurt one company. It kills opportunities. This single project could’ve created over 50 permanent jobs. Now, we’re scrambling to figure out how to make this business model work and recoup our investment.

South African businesses are being punished for trying to grow, scale, and contribute to the economy — while the government continues to act like growth and job creation are someone else’s responsibility.
