The southern African nation of Botswana has declared a public health emergency after hospitals ran out of essential medicine.
The government said that the medical supply chain had failed and announced $18 Million in emergency funding to restock hospitals. President Boko released this video appearing to show the military overseeing aid deliveries. In the past, Botswana had previously received significant aid from the US, and recent budget cuts by the Trump administration have worsened the public health situation.

Corrupt government
Botswana is facing a "Logistical" issue, not a lack of Finances.
Heads must role at CMS
Every superpower state will help as long as they get a cut of the diamond racket🤌🏿
Two million people plus A diamond producing Nation Botswana is facing a health crisis unbelievable.🤦🤦🤦
sekgoa gase teme ya rona, hagongwe re bua dilo!!!!!! ''We trust our disciplined forces to bring CALAMITY'' ???eish
I dont believe this Botswana thing….believ me.these things ar collapsed on purpose
Why do we always have to beg other countries for stuff. Our government is so corrupt and rich
This is a joke, another PR stunt. I am from Botswana and what we are facing is a financial issue, the government is under tight fiscal budget. The President assembled task force to deal with this shortage of medicines, to carry out pharmaceutical planning, procurement and operations without any pharmacy stakeholder engagement/involvement and expertise?
That's where they came up with deflated P80 million medicine to sustain a nation a whole year, where will the medicine be coming from? Temu? Batswana will die if they taking shortcuts and politicizing healthcare. The inflationary conclusion coming from people with NO expertise and experience whatsoever in pharmaceutical operations. At this point lets take hobos to perform surgeries in our hospitals then since we do not value Meritocracy. This is one example of what is wrong with African countries and you wonder why they don't progress. Our founding fathers Sir Seretse Khama and KT Masire are probably turning in their graves seeing what this country has descended into, no Meritocracy which was the foundation of Botswana's success story. Today the government under President Boko with military involvement wanna buy Medicine as if they are buying Candy or Car parts.
And again, why is the State of Emergency necessary? All the activities and plans currently being carried out can be done without an SOE. Didn't Batswana not learn from the billions looted during the last State of Emergency?
This is concerning
South Africa needs to step in and assist where possible…
Botswana, Namibia and Eswatini are the neighbors we need and should prioritize.
That reporter is not very professional, holding her head up with her finger lol
I just wished you didn't put your hand on your face like that.
Useless AU and ECOWES African neighbors should rush to assist each other in ordering. Or give the diamonds as payment for Medical supplies.
Why is this Journalist putting her fingers on her face??? 😂😂😂
SA dont have money too.Our cabinet pretend as if SA has money and tax us heavily. All they know is looting and they dont care about citizens .
And I thought bostwana was a developed African countries, above the fray of failed states……Africa has no hope.
Reduce the middle man to curb price inflation in your procurement, especially on essentials like health.
Shame where the diamond money?
Africa please try to learn from Cuba
Shame on Botswana….😅😅😅😅😅
Ýess THIS ís where WE STAND NOW.
WHO to BLAME. 😮😮
The host mentioned the issue.. its a supply chain issue, not that the health system failed. The trump part is a lie to give the wrong picture…
Is it because of the Aids?
The answer is easy… They elected a socialist government last year. The country is falling apart.
Why is the United States funding a country that mines diamonds?
