Standing 170 metres high and stretching nearly 2 kilometres across the Blue Nile, Ethiopia has officially unveiled the largest hydroelectric dam in Africa. While it is expected to supply electricity to millions of Ethiopians, it also risks exacerbating tensions with neighbouring Egypt and Sudan, who are concerned about their water reserves.

To avoid all that noise from Egypt and sudan any down stream country should just do what Uganda does on the Nile. Build smaller dams which in total mounts up to one big Dam and avoid the noise
Victory for fano.from Eritrea
The dam is beneficial for the entire region including Egypt and Sudan. Well done Ethiopia.
Ethiopian Airways best in Africa and now the biggest hydro power dam….what is wrong with my country
I'm wondering why Egypt always twisting the situation. We built the dam with our water on our land. The water is just hits the turbines and continues flowing on the natural line. So, where is the problem?! Please Egypt stop this senseless accusations and work peacefully with Ethiopia. The water is enough for everyone.
We are extremely happy ❤❤
We Ethiopian are proud of the innaguration of GERED. Let Egypt – a colonised country crys while we shine.
Thank U for present the news and the dam is build on ethiopian river blue nile/Abay /and it costs 5 billion dollar.
Ethiopia 🇪🇹 🇪🇹 🇪🇹 🇪🇹 always fight for Africa !
Britain fooled Egypt by "giving" them a river they don't own without consulting with the actual owner. Egypt: lame Britain, not Ethiopia, a proud country and owner of the Blue Nile.
Much support to Ethiopia from Sudan. We should be customers not adversaries.
We have done our part and succeeded now, but Egyptian z only reality they have to face is "telling who owns Abay – Ethiopia" and work together instead of roaring with old and no evidence
Who cares about Egypt? Do they support us when we are in the dark? Our irrigation project is loading…😂😂😂
Thank you for understanding Ethiopia"s right and standing with Ethiopians.
Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🥳 🎊 👏 💐 🥳 🎊 👏 💐 🥳
Always continue reporting the truth, like now. 👍 thank you
Everything is changing now. The source of nine is Ethiopia, So we have made history right now. Ethiopian 💪💪💪Ethiopian
nice job of africans !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our DAM.GERD
We more than 60% Ethiopian at this time are living without electricity but we are a more than 85% of water contributer for Nile(አባይ). We Africans must stand together against this kind of unfair claims of Egyptian politicians.
This dam is the resource of east Africa. I think we did our best to the region.
IT IS ETHIOPIA’S TiME. Now Congratulations !!!!!
Good news for Ethiopia and China cooperation for providing the loan and advance machinery.
The DAM marks the geo political power shift. Whoever controls the nile, controls the region.
This is the new generation second ADUWA 👉🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
Ethiopia 🇪🇹 has the right to build whatever they want on their own soil.
work hard in silent, let your work be the noise. my country ,Ethiopia
If the Egypt was the source of the Nile, every downstream countries should have been charged hefty price to use the water.
