US President Donald Trump said he would not invite South Africa to the 2026 G20 summit in Florida, claiming alleged “horrific human rights abuses.”
Trump claimed in a Truth Social post that the South African government is committing white genocide against its citizens.
“To put it more bluntly, they are killing white people and randomly allowing their farms to be taken from them,” Trump wrote.
“At my direction, South Africa will NOT be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G-20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida, next year.”
The move would break with more than two decades of precedent and mark the first time a member has been formally excluded from the G20.
At this year’s G20 summit in South Africa, world leaders defied Donald Trump and agreed to a unified plan which aims to accelerate global climate action.
