Benin is a good portion of my DNA my parents are Haitian I’m in America
Let us invest in Benin. From 🇪🇹 🇺🇸
how ironic?
Dahomey (in present-day Benin) was a powerful kingdom built on the Atlantic slave trade.
The Kingdom of Dahomey, centered at Abomey from roughly the 17th to 19th centuries, became a militarized state that captured people in inland raids and sold them through coastal ports like Ouidah to European traders.
Human sacrifice occurred most prominently during state rituals tied to the monarchy—especially funerals of kings and the Annual Customs, a cycle of ceremonies where offerings to ancestors and vodun were made.
Same color doesn't mean same people. They were the ones who sold you into slavery.
Did he just masculinize 'la diaspora'? That speaks volumes–1:54.
Benin wants to raise the awareness of it's role in slavery, so they build a fake slave ship with fake captives 😅
How offensive.
That isn't an FBA y'all tried to pass this off as if we have great grandparents from here. Our Great and 2xs and 3xs grandparents are from America. They also did a trick bag by saying you cant be a citizen of another african country.
Foundational Black Americans don't fall for this grift they just want you to come over to invest money
Citizenship but no entitlement to free outright owned land!
So I can’t collect African citizenships like Pokémon?
To mark slavery legacy? You can have that. Africa's legacy is can't keep her people who live there now. Save them.
Congratulations to All
1st step – Sell slaves to European
2nd step – Wait for slaves to free themselves and become economically successful
3rd step – Offer descendants of slaves citizenship so that they can come pay taxes in the country that sold their ancestors to Europeans
Why would I want to return to a country that shipped my ancestors to Europeans?
I like the idea of it… but don't feel we would be properly integrated….would like to visit the continent one day.
I started the process they asked me not only for my parents birth certificates but also my grandparents. Trying to obtain a birth certificate for my grand parents born in 1915 and 1917 is ridiculous.
Thanks Benin. Please don't give up your US citizenship when trying to get dual citizenship.
Very cool Benin 😎
Another scam bites the dust
History Fact:
Liberia was established by American colonization societies (like the ACS, founded by white elites including slave owners and abolitionists) to resettle free and formerly enslaved Black people in Africa, with land acquired from local chiefs, but most Black Americans did not want to go, preferring to build lives in the U.S. despite racial discrimination, though some thousands did emigrate to the colony, which became independent in 1847.
African meaning black? I wish Benin had a policy of attracting foreigners or retirees like Ghana or Morrocco. Why would someone who has a good job in Europe, the Americas or Asian want to move to one of the poorest country in the world with a population decimated by malaria.
Is it a FULL citizenship : voting rights , property rights, Public service eligibility for ministry senior appointments, Land ownership rights ?
This really sounds like a nothing Burger….
So is it Benin or Ghana?? Seems everyone is going to Ghana. Smh I don’t know anything about either country other than I’ve meet Ghanaians who were friendly. Lol
Will this show that it was the Africans that rounded up the Africans and enslaved them
Will this show that it was the African who sold the African West for weapons and whiskey?
Wow, this is brilliant.
If Benin aligns with Burkina Faso..this would be powerful
A friend asked me to ask yall, if the LG T of the diaspora were invited.
GPT gave me tea, but I want clarity.
🚶🏿♂️
Yes! Please go back! Please!! Please!!! Please!!!!🙏
Ghana 🇬🇭 started this long ago, glad other African countries are following their footsteps
How much is the financial cost for the process and how long does it take ?
Citizenship? What actual tangibles come with the citizenship? (Land, money, etc.)?
Are we glossing over the slave ship amusement park? Sounds like this Country wants to make a coin off the misery of slavery. Who wants to see how the enslaved were transported? Who?
Benin, rather the tribes in that region actively participated in the slave trade. Also, Europe Nations stopped trading for slaves and started taking/kidnapping.
I find it insulting that African Nations actively participated in the transatlantic slave trade, benefited (trade/bartering) & now want to make money from the descendants of the enslaved. DIABOLICAL.
I don't want that I'm Good in the Nation in which my FBA ✊🏿🇺🇲grandparents help build America 🇺🇸
This has touched my heart immensely ❤ what a wonderful path forward to healing, restoration, unity and community.
Y are u people accepting citizenship from a place that is constantly underming the sovereignty of African people don't you people read or you just lack of overwhelming this place is not righteous before you accept these gifts from the African state you must do resurch on these rotten African leaders that is making life harder for the African man and women I wouldn't even accept citizenship from Ghana a that earned it name the gold Coast and still living in popetuating povity no brothers and sisters do proper research before accepting their rotten citizenship
I already have US citizenship (via birth) and Jamaican citizenship (via Jamaican-born parents). I do think it’s nice to have options, and perhaps this will be something to pursue in the near future. I’ve learned that you can apply online for a provisional certificate, but you’ll need to visit within three (3) years to finalize that citizenship. It’s definitely a process, but it seems doable.
This is completely false! I've applied and I paid for 3 other folks and no one was approved. Even after DNA tests they asked for tons of records for grandparents and then denied us all.
