Burkina Faso has signed a controversial health cooperation agreement with the United States under the America First Global Health Strategy — a move that has surprised many observers across Africa.
The five-year deal promises funding for HIV treatment, malaria prevention, disease surveillance, and outbreak response. But while Burkina Faso accepted the agreement, Zimbabwe and Zambia pushed back, raising concerns over data sovereignty, unequal terms, and long-term strategic implications.
So what exactly is this new health framework?
Why are some African countries signing — while others are walking away?
And is global health becoming the newest arena in the geopolitical rivalry between major powers in Africa?
In this episode, we break down:
• The details of Burkina Faso’s agreement with the United States
• Why Zimbabwe rejected a $367 million health package
• Zambia’s concerns over data sharing and mineral leverage
• Kenya’s legal challenge that froze parts of a similar deal
• The broader implications of the America First health strategy across Africa
This is not just a health story. It is a story about sovereignty, strategic interests, and the difficult choices African governments face when funding meets geopolitics.

Do you think Burkina Faso made the right decision signing this deal with the United States — or should it have followed Zimbabwe’s example and walked away?
Is the America First Global Health Strategy a genuine health partnership, or a geopolitical tool shaping Africa’s data, resources, and strategic positioning?
And here’s the bigger question:
When life-saving health funding comes with conditions, what should African governments prioritise — immediate public health needs or long-term sovereignty?
Drop your thoughts below. Let’s have a serious conversation. 👇
We are disappointed if there is truth in this matter that Ibrahim signed this documents
If this is true, I am really disappointed.
Burkinafaso doesn't need the money, they have plenty gold to pay for that, they can actually monetize their gold and trade overseas to make money for the health department.
This is a great move by the AES Leader, they also agree to train the People there to treat their own water and help fight outbreaks
You should see our hospitals. Much worse off than African hospitals i have been to. Just saying. I thought Ibrahim agreed to just give them data and I assumed they would feed America inaccurate data. This is NOT good.
Please think hard about dealing with the USA
Infrastructure deals should be with Japan such as Hazama Gumi. Japan is very seismicly active. Japanese construction is built to last.
AFRIKA SHOULD WAKE UP AND STOP FOOLING THEIR GENERATIONAL DNA 🧬.COMPLETELY WRONG TO GO INTO SUCH WICKED DEALS .
It's to early to tell this is risky tests I pray that my brother be successful.
Ibrahim has signed his death warrant. He will be overthrown through monitoring schimp from America and they will overthrow him using his3rd commander. Please encourage him to cancel it.
Let's cut the Captain some slack. He is not careless. He has learned to scrutinize the fine lines before commiting. I trust his judgement. He will speak to clear the air.
Your perspective is perfectly analyzed! Unlike this female African political content provider who tried to disparage Traoré's name, you explained the difficult position African countries find themselves! Judging from his current moves, I believe he will use this arrangement to ultimately benefit his people but quickly wean the country off this medical dependency and become self reliant! He will beat them at their own game!
I'm disappointed. The USA will have no problem making people guinea pigs for sterilization, etc. I wouldn't trust them as far as I can spit.🤦🏽♀️They found a way in…no good…
Don't make deals with the devil he will be in jail
Trojan Horse like always, it only buys a little time
I think that it is a terrible agreement. Bill Gates is notorious for providing vaccinations that were designed to stop being able to get pregnant or have miscarriages that can lead to permanent infertility while Gates claimed the "Vaccination" was a "Tetanus Vaccine".
To make a deal with Trump just gives the greedy and malignant US Regime an excuse to come into your Govt and ultimately invade, cause coups and steal your resources.
If you need Health Help China could have provided it with much less risk.
When I was told President Ibrahim signed that deal, I felt like a spear went through my heart. I was totally disappointed and broken. Am very surprised he has remained so silent until now. What has changed from his usual reporting to the people?
I know thousands of people like myself are anxiously waiting to hear directly from him a detailed report of this agreement.
When will Africa be wise for once? May the Lord come to our rescue.
This is genuinely heartbreaking, I had so much hope in my heart that the captain was the one 😔
I felt my heart sink but I think mr president would have thought it through and see benifit
I always trust Ibrahim Traore decisions . Captain Africa please we want to hear your side of this story. Speak to us.
Now the people will be infected with various diseases.
No! No! No! Absolute nonsense! Only yesterday I was hearing from your channel about John Mahama's Ukraine deal with Zelensky and today I'm hearing about Traore's health deal with his main enemy the US?
Covid-19 they used the global ministries of health and it met the scammers desired outcome. Now let me ask: What is actually becoming of the African continent and its leaders? I'm afraid that this trap is not only risky but it carries unperceived danger such as getting closer to the captain over time. This is a very dangerous development! Please Africa, why does it have to be with the US?
Hmm, I call this a paradhym shift. Careful management of your country's financial resources is key and prioritizing the needs of the people is of great importance and I congratulate the countries that rejected the American beguiling offer. When Donald Trump is gone that signed deal holds! Look at Iran it's currently fighting valiantly for its sovereignty and people! Why now Burkina Faso? Have you so soon forgotten about Thomas Sankara and the others before him?
This is the best video I've ever heard from you and trust me I bleed in my heart from Grenada in the Caribbean/West Indies
They didn't make the right decision!
They are trapped as lambs to the slaughter. I stand to be corrected but presently I don't trust a America not for once because according to former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger he said "To be an enemy of the United States of America is dangerous but to be a friend is fatal!"
I’m so disappointed in Traore
We never learn 😒
I worned Africa a couple of years ago based on what I heard just when Africa was about to approach 2 billion people the pharmaceutical companies in the west plan the pharmaceutical killer of most of the people in Africa, but no one listen this is their way of reducing the population of Africa to their pharmaceutical companies
Not a single deal should be even considered with the west. The Russians even should be viewed with extreme caution. But the West should be blocked fully. Look at Syria, destroyed by the west and abandoned by the Russians. Or Libya.
It's better to live one day sovereign and free than 100 years as a slave.
I believe the truth is not American safety rather it’s for Biological warfare. America might be researching weapons they can use on local populations that will not affect American soldiers when they put boots on the ground in Africa.
I don’t think anything involving the America government is a good idea they are leaches.
Wow !! Neo colonialism at its best . Africa stand up for yourself, don’t do what are ancestors did in selling us out .
How shocking, why can’t Africans sort out their own healthcare ?
Bill Gates laughing doing evil hands over covid return on investment. Beter to keep WHO out. US medical projects, seen their healthcare, their ngo's. Wolf in sheepscloth. The heck is BF doing? They know better. No Seckler ever went to prison in US. Don't feed the beast, not even data, no money, nothing.
Traore must move with caution when dealing with America ,Countries like Kenya just Rush to please America , No second thought
