South Africa’s Xenophobia: Fear, Frustration, and Fight for Unity

Mazino goes into the deep-rooted issue of xenophobia in South Africa, exploring how the country’s struggle with “the other” continues to shape its society. Despite overcoming apartheid, South Africa still faces a dangerous fear of migrants from within the continent. From Nigerian-owned barbershops to Zimbabwean workers, Mazino breaks down the economic frustrations that fuel violence against foreigners and the political manipulation that exacerbates it. But this isn’t just a South African issue. Mazino highlights how xenophobia is widespread across Africa, and how it threatens the continent’s unity. Is Africa truly united, or are we just geographically bound together?

  1. Here I speak of Angola, you are forgetting that you have families here in Angola and have your establishments like Shoprite here in Angola, you beat our Angolan brother, you are punishing many African brothers, 5 Africans lost their lives, better you cancel what you want to do on May 4 to our brothers, we Angolans are also tough, we ask with all respect for your understanding…💔

  2. O mais triste é notar comentário que suportam esta selvageria. Matar negros irmãos para tirar a frustração de estarem a ser escravizados pelos brancos que detém 96% das vossas terras. Esses vocês consideram irmãos. Os brancos não lutam entre eles.

  3. Don't bring South Africa as an african problem. The rest of SADC are like brothers and sister except for those so called SA's led by thieves in power… Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Angola are using ID's to cross in one anothers country. Guess who is not allowed to cross with an ID? Those cowards who in Africa South…😂😂😂. They can still and destroy you in a day just like the amalakites Joshua destroyed…

  4. You were under apartheid for decades you couldn't fight to liberate your country. Nigerians liberated themselves fron colonial rule without help of other African nations. I blame Nigerians that go to live in countries like South Africa, Ghana. Go where you're allowed to flourish.

  5. South African streets used to be clean, till these foreigners arrived. They contribute nothing to the South African economy. Can't fight their own governments but want privileges in South Africa.

  6. South Africans are not a problem!
Talk about the foreigners who's stealing the jobs like Uber, restaurants and ects! Don't only talk about business. Also they come here selling expired goods! Killing our kids. Think before you make yourself look like a idiot!

  7. SA people strong with the weak , weak with the strong🤢🤮. I still remember the world mobiliziing to show support to this nation during their darkest times, what a shame !
please just ban visas and close borders it's way more time efficient.

  8. VIOLENCE IS WRONG..IT WAS WRONG HOW THEY DONE IT..THEY MUST WORL WITH THE POLICE/GOVERNMENT AND ORGANISATIONS TO HELP ILLEGALS GO HOME AND HELP SOME ATTAIN CITIZENSHIP.

We dont want drugs, human trafficking, disrespect for our laws, jealousy and people who want to overthrow in South Africa.

Stay in your country, vote for the right party challenge ur government and fix your country..we love yourll but what yourll to rise up as we are doing as south africans .in South Africa we are still eliminating apartheid systems, dismantling corruption, crime and all issues..we are suffering in South Africa.

  9. its self hate, acute inferiority complex and the only thing left to cover for those disgusting complexes is attacking the one that reminds u who u are.how does a random shopkeeper from tz,zimb, ghana or elsewhere steal your job and resources? ..disgusting inbreads..

  10. Cape Town, Jo’burg and Durban have homicides in the 2 to 3 plus thousands. Which is considered some of the most dangerous cities in the world. Let me guess it’s Nigerians and Other African immigrants committing these homicides not the actual natives? 😂

  11. As South Africans, we are not crazy, these people come here to sell drugs, traffic humans and participate in illegal activities and we're supposed to just sit back and watch ? You must be out of your mind.

Why is it that these people cannot stay in their own countries? Why is it that they cannot fix their own countries?

  12. Why are Africans so scared of white people, they’re the ones yall should be kicking out not each other, they’re sitting back laughing at yall doing their dirty work 🤦🏾‍♂️

  13. Why are blacks from other african countries coming to South Africa? These anti white racists killed their investors , they have their oil , they have their minerals and yet they come to south africa illegally? Fokof

  14. Nigerians have massive resources they have to fight the greedy oligarchs siphoning all the wealth in Nigeria start unions to combat corrupt employers, and let the South Africans build themselves up, africans should trade not go into other people's territory to set up shop.

  16. Most of them are jealous. Especially of nigerians.. I was there too and as a woman,i saw how jealous they were of their women taken by foreigners.i went for an interview for a job, the salary was 600$ it was a small business, they also interviewed a SA man and he refused the salary and wanted triple, they tild him that it's a new business and they will improve but he refused so they call me. That's how their bitterness is from

  17. It's always durban. Because KwaZulu natal is there…My country doesn't have any relationship with SA anymore.. We closed down their businesses and ambassy. The funny thing is the most successful ones over there are the white.

  18. African countries should unite and take a stand against South Africa, because the South African government does little to prevent this. Here in Angola, there are many South Africans working for oil companies.

  19. They say South Africans and Kenyans are a lot alike. I say SCREW THAT *ish. In kenya, the Shona and the Makonde tribes from the southern parts of Africa were granted citizenship. Still, some Ugandans and Burundians who can't even connect two Swahili words are working and doing business🤨🤨🤨

  20. This is not xenophobia. It is BLACK AFROPHOBIA by some brainwashed individuals suffering from incurable racial inferiority complex.
Quite ironical that these ex refugees, beneficiaries of all-round solidarity throughout independent Africa for over half a century, are so abrasively ungrateful against their erstwhile hosts!
By the way and because of its frequent recurrence, isn't it time the tit-for-tac theory was applied in equal measures militarily, culturally, diplomatically, professionally, educationally, commercially, …? Oughtn't ungrateful violent people be spoken to in an equally violent language and rwciprocal action?
AND THEY CROSS OCEANS TO ACCUSE ISRAEL ON HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS PRIOR TO PUTTING ORDER IN THEIR IMMEDIATE NEIGHBOURHOOD! DOESN'T CHARITY BEGIN AT HOME AS A FRENCH ADAGE WILL HAVE IT : << La charité bien ordonnée commence par soi-même. >>?
