“Red alarm fire” Trump’s Supreme Court ruling should scare all of us

The Supreme Court’s Republican-appointed majority — including the three justices Trump appointed — just gutted the Voting Rights Act.   Symone and Eugene have a lot to say about this monumental decision rolling back the rights of minorities.
They also talk about how absurd the Trump DOJ’s indictment of James Comey is — over an Instagram post of seashells! And Symone and Eugene are joined by their MS NOW colleagues, Jen Psaki and Ali Vitali, to talk about being together at the White Houe Correspondents’ Dinner when shots rang out. They discuss what was going through their minds, how quickly conspiracies popped up, Trump’s immediate pivot to justify his ballroom, and the heartening things you learn about your colleagues when things go sideways.

  1. I can understand that Kavanaugh and Gorsuch might be drunks or paedophiles – but what has Trump got on Coney Barrett?
Just WHAT did SHE do to get his support?

  2. Any way you slice it, this csnt end well. I think trumo brings back ooll taxes to stop minorities and the poor from voting democrats in their core party. Trump will use this to whatever depravity he can to stop the 2026 midterms from being free ir fair

  3. My favorite comment from the Dems is that there is "not a lot of voter fraud" happening. It is impossible to know how much voter fraud happens in any election in this century.

What is all comes down to is that the Dems opened the borders up and let millions of unvetted illegal aliens pour through in the hopes of solidifying power through downward wage pressure on the middle class and illegal votes for Democrats from these illegal aliens to keep the flow of middle-class tax dollars into social services for illegal aliens running. If you believe that this was done out of the goodness of the hearts of Democrats, think again – the heart of a non-centrist Democrat has no goodness.

  4. Thank you both for your work! To be clear! No one is discounting the experiences of the people in the room Saturday night! The question is, like that of Symone Sanders Townsend and others, who expressed the lack of security they observed and everyone else who has attended these events in the past. You're not doing yourselves any favors by allowing a visceral experience in the room, which was horrific, to represent What and How it happened outside the room. This was very strange! SECURITY issues were not consistent with Secret Service protocols for events of this magnitude considering the attendees!! These concerns have been expressed by many. The QUESTION IS HOW WAS IT ALLOWED TO HAPPEN? No one is discounting the experiences in the room as authentic, terrifying, and horrifying as it may have been! Reality is screaming inconsistencies and lack of standard protocol execution! I do not believe the attendees/guests had any prior knowledge of this tragedy. Other members of the cabinet and administration who were there?🤔🤷‍♀

  5. Lifetime appointments to SCOTUS must end, and this MUST be voted on by Congress after January 2027. There are no balanced scales for lady justice, and this must change, and the partisanship must end.

  6. This show is gonna really lose their mind when two of the conservative Supreme Court justices, voluntarily retire and Trump picks two more that are even more conservative and will be half the age; remember as your savior o’bummer said: elections have consequences ha ha

  7. The Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Voting Rights Act will have implications for election law going forward.
As a company that values rule of law and institutional stability, we’ll continue following analysis from legal experts across the spectrum.

  8. Today a law becomes official in indiana it's illegal to be poor your breaking the law if you have nowhere to lay your head, it's against the law to sleep outside.

  9. Sorry, but 400 million, so that a REPLACEABLE head of state can securely hold parties? That is far too steep a price for so called security.
The brilliant thing about republics is that it does no tmatter who is at top, you take our leader away and we elect a new one and the break will be minimal as policy will go on. There is no King whose god given right is disturbed by a murder, there is no deity that cannot be overthrown, the president is ultimately if things really come down to it JUST a figurehead, not the heart and core of the nation. Reasonable means of protecting him are okay, paranoid spending just to keep him from FAFO are insane.

And to add insult to injury: HOW SAFE IS MAR A LAGO??? people were known to wander in that were later confirmed as foreign spies. People can buy a membership. Dude invites himself to frigging weddings in his "home"… if the Hilton Hotel is not safe enough, then he can never again return to MAL for "security reasons"… It would be only fair, they made Jimmy Carter give up his flukking peanut farm! Why does Trump still hold businesses and lives half his supposed presidential worktime in them???

  10. The six are corrupt. Period. If the Secret Service can’t secure a venue then the President shouldn’t attend. I don’t know why he was invited to the WHCD anyway. He verbally assaults and disrespects the press regularly.

  11. Most of all it should scare SCROTUS because Pete was right all along. Our short list needs to include expanding the court and also mandatory retirement preferably retroactive. Tick Tock MFers,
