On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the Russian Africa Corps released three videos showing air and artillery strikes on Al-Qaeda affiliate JNIM and the Tuareg-dominated Azawad Liberation Front during the attempted coup involving simultaneous attacks on seven cities in Mali over the weekend. As reported by RT, the first video shows artillery or drone fire destroying a column of trucks travelling on an open road. The second video shows insurgents running alongside vehicles being obliterated by two or three strikes. The third video shows a small column of fast-moving vehicles being bombed. The Russian mercenaries said that the air support they provided prevented the seizure of key facilities, including the presidential palace in the capital, Bamako. According to the Times of India, Africa Corps held positions along a 2,000-kilometer front line with helicopters, combat drones, and artillery. As stated by the Kenya Star, of the estimated 12,000 terrorists conducting the attack on Saturday armed with US Stinger and French Mistral man-portable air-defense systems and supported by Ukrainian and European mercenaries, 200 were killed in Bamako, 500 were neutralized in Gao, 300 met their fate in Kati, and 200 died in Kidal while over 100 of their vehicles were destroyed. Replacing Wagner Group in 2023, Africa Corps operates in the Sahel, the Central African Republic, Libya, and Sudan conducting counterterrorism, training local forces, and securing strategic sites.
