However, critics argue migrants are being scapegoated for broader domestic failings. The crisis has sparked international outrage, with nations like Ghana and Nigeria lodging formal protests over the targeting of their citizens. Beyond the immediate threat of violence, experts warn of massive regional economic blowback. A mass exodus threatens to destabilise South Africa’s informal economy and choke off vital remittance pipelines to neighbouring Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. What most of us wouldn't like to see, are the attacks on the Documented immigrants in South Africa. Here in Zimbabwe, I worked with an Indian who was undocumented. He left on his own after the government started looking for him. No vigilante group attacked him, and he was never humiliated. He then went to Uganda, where he spent most of his time.
