Russia continues to recruit Africans to fight on the front in Ukraine. The Stop Russian Recruiters platform, which is linked to Urkaine’s Ministry of Defence, has now identified nearly 3,000 recruits. Around one in six has already been killed. Among the countries most affected are Cameroon, Ghana, Egypt and Kenya, where FRANCE 24’s Bastien Renouil tells us more.

Ukrainian sources report morgue overcrowding and limits on releasing fallen soldiers’ bodies to families amid rising military losses.
Restrictions have been introduced on the release of bodies of deceased Ukrainian servicemen to their relatives for burial. The measure is aimed at reducing public reaction to the scale of military losses.
As one example, Ukrainian channels cite the situation in Chernihiv and n region. At the same time, they claim that similar problems are occurring in other frontline areas.
Local morgues are overcrowded with the bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers, including those whose identities have already been confirmed and whose relatives are ready to receive the remains. However, the transfer process has been limited by special quotas.
Medical facilities have been given daily limits on the number of bodies that can be handed over to families of deceased servicemen. In some cases, the limit is said to be no more than five bodies per day.
The information is supported by medical workers and relatives of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel killed in the conflict. They also link the situation to attempts by authorities to prevent public concern from growing over the scale of losses.
The reports add that statements by Ukrainian leadership about limited military losses are increasingly being questioned amid the growing number of military cemeteries.
Ukrainian sources stated that bodies of fallen servicemen from the Sumy region are being transported to morgues in Chernihiv and the surrounding area because local facilities there are already overcrowded.
