South Africa says it will no longer accept evacuation flights bringing Palestinians from Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
The foreign minister argues the flights are part of a broader plan to depopulate Palestinian territories.
Recent arrivals told Al Jazeera they fled intense bombardment and had no safe routes left.
Several described losing homes, family members and livelihoods during the war.
Others said they faced long, difficult journeys before reaching Johannesburg.
They expressed uncertainty about their future and fear for relatives still trapped in Gaza.

Help is good, but laws must be equal: no undocumented person, African or Palestinian, should enter our country while citizens are left behind and Ubuntu is not chaos. If South Africans must follow the law, then everyone must follow the law. Compassion cannot be selective and our borders cannot be open for some while closed for others..We never fled our country during apartheid.. we fought for it. So why must South Africans now suffer while undocumented foreigners enter freely in the name of history, charity, or politics.? Fairness must start at home..A nation that cannot protect its own people cannot protect anyone else. South Africa must fix its borders, its laws, and its priorities before it tries to save the world..😇
