Unemployed doctors and pharmacists demand employment

Unemployed doctors and pharmacists demand employment

South Africa is faced with a staggering unemployment rate.

Young professionals are now calling on the government to act on the unemployment of doctors and pharmacists.

This critical skill sector has seen a surge in qualified doctors and pharmacists, but hundreds are unemployed and at home.

They have protested over the years, demanding the intake of young graduates within the health sector.

They hope that President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address will deal with these issues.

  1. His name is excellent means he is from Zim right? Sad that he is not getting a job – but I think SA will start with SA citizens – it’s sad all round that medical degrees are not getting jobs when the country has medical issues and thieves wasting the money to buy lambos and not help the people. And I think maybe a ban on new medical degrees and education for perhaps another 5 years and priority on another field pushed. Marching as unions is a dead way and a waste – strategize and mobile resources to make structural changes and please unions wear shorts and ties – you also look unemployed mfwetu – how will get employment for others. And please the president is not the only one who can solve things – the private sector is also part of the solution

  2. things went to the dogs after covid. the labour market never recovered afterwards, and now even doctors are unemployed. Something we've never seen before

  3. Go to Saudi Arabia , Oman, UAE or the Caribbean . They looking for doctors . Don’t know why S Africans don’t like Emigrating for work . Go Make your money while you young

  4. What a country. Skills shortage but they don’t hire doctors. Economic turnaround but every week a major company files for bankruptcy. Hullets sugar is the latest one. Thousands of jobs on the line.

  5. Then we're surprised that a clown from Russia comes and turns our countries into a mess before leaving without a care in the world. Africa suffers from its useless and mediocre leaders who cling to power as if it were a matter of life or death.
