Rebel group M23, aligned with Rwanda, says it seized the key trading hub of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo. M23 said all Congolese military personnel must hand over weapons to UN peacekeepers. Congo’s government and army have not confirmed the city has fallen. The US, Congo and United Nations experts accuse M23, which already controls the region’s biggest tantalum-ore mine, of smuggling minerals to Rwanda. Bloomberg’s Ondiro Oganga reports from Kigali.

I understand the frustration many people have directed toward Rwanda, especially with how social media often paints us as the sole aggressor in this conflict. However, it's important to look at the broader picture and acknowledge where the real responsibility lies. President Tshisekedi's inaction has allowed the continued persecution of Congolese Tutsis, who are being killed in alarming numbers, with little to no protection from their own government.
M23 has made numerous attempts to engage with Tshisekedi to find a peaceful solution, but he has consistently refused to come to an agreement. Instead of addressing the root causes of these tensions or seeking common ground, he has chosen to let the situation escalate.
Moreover, Rwanda has long called for cooperation in addressing the genocidaires who fled into Congolese territory after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. These individuals continue to pose a serious security threat, not only to Rwanda but to the region as a whole. Yet, there has been little effort from the Congolese government to apprehend them or prevent their potential resurgence.
Blaming Rwanda alone oversimplifies a complex issue and overlooks Tshisekedi’s role in allowing these tragedies to persist. It is crucial for all parties to seek genuine dialogue and for leaders to prioritize the safety and well-being of their people over political posturing. Only through mutual understanding and accountability can we hope to achieve lasting peace in the region.

If only you knew what DRC has done in 30 years and 8 years currently you will know that there is a group of people who have suffered under this timeline but endured all the kind of wild treatment and victims of politics Congolese Tutsiz in the East have passed through hell and fire they have a paid a price of being Congolese through blood and lose of what's so ever a man can loose on earth…DRC has forever claimed our necks and flesh for centuries and decades because we have similar roots as rwandan speaking folks within the region,we speak the same language as Burundian, Rwandaise,partial some Nyankole across the region we have similarities but we found ourselves under the DRC constitution as of the history of boundary separation and we accepted to serve the country alongside many tribes and ethnics ,we had our short comings of land disputes and genocide came in place Hutuz and fellow Tutsiz in Rwanda fled in DRC in 1994 … There a propaganda was born afterwards a good way of claiming that we had to go back to our Rwandphone roots was a weapon that was going to be our load for the rest of our lives moving forward every president used that as an advantage to instigate ethnic politics in East being that the fact was majority could easily take advantage in failed government and a region full of rebells due to mineral thievery in region (50 rebels).
The fight and conflict formation became entangled not even the international community could solve it they also took advantage of an entangled process and some mineral cases were hard of being stolen by UN drones but it remained a fact that it was easy to target the Rwandphone speaking people in the East because of a war coincidence of migration of refugees as a result of genocide. They started killing every Rwandan looking like and speaking person across the country and there was no reason about killings but one way of diminishing the community and this was majorly influenced by Belgium political background and facial segregation with extreme political propaganda. Currently even in the past cannibalism was introduced, they started to say that the believed Tutsiz are edible and are a good meat . All this happened under the watch of a country that had a constitution and believed in human rights and also under the international community présence… people were being brutally murder this resulted to M23 the kids of parents who had served faithfully under Congolese Army FRDC . Rather the country sabotaged them used their story to tell lies on global Media shadowing every efforts of justice.
