  1. Something that is not being discussed is the lawfulness of the instruction not fill vacancies in the Crime Intelligence? That’s not responsibility of the minister to dictate which vacancies are filled and when.

  2. Commissioner: If the minister instructs you to do something unlawful or if he encroaches to your duties, would you do it?
Masemola: No, I would not listen to the minister…

    Few paragraphs later…

Commissioner: The minister instructed you to disband the PKTT, why did you listen to him?
Masemola: I did not listen to the minister but I conceded on my terms…!!!😂😂😂

Make that make sense Gen Masemola…!!!

  3. In determining national policing policy the Minister must do so IN consultation with MECs responsive for policing in the Provinces, section 206 of the Constitution. Did the Minister consult his KZN and/or Gauteng counter-parts in disbanding the PKTT? We doubt, and therefore the Minister violated the Constitution TWICE, in determining national policy AND in his direction.

  4. This was difficult for General Masemola because he knows he wasn't brave enough to take Mchunu and Sibiya toe for toe but at the same time he knew Mkhwanazi was brave enough so he made sure not to anger Mchunu and Sibiya while at the same time making sure he buys enough time for Mkhwanazi and his team to push their investigations and find names.

  5. The leading commissioner laugh at every question he is asking. I get why. Clearly this guy is not the one who compiled he statement. Because he doesn't understand he statement or maybe rather how questions are posed by the commissioner.

But 😂😂😂😂 we honestly I'm don't follow some legal terms but there is the shame in saying the you pose the question in simple way ..

  6. This is what Masemola actually did and what was supposed to be his response:

I hold a Master’s degree in Public Management, which provided me with training in emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and communication. These skills have equipped me to handle complex and sensitive situations without escalating them unnecessarily.

When the issue of disbanding the Task Team arose, I entertained the idea in principle but proposed a structured approach that would not compromise ongoing cases if the directive were to be executed. In doing so, I prepared a report that gave the impression of compliance, but in reality, the team continues to operate.

This approach allowed me to appear cooperative while still safeguarding the operational needs of the Task Team. I deliberately avoided escalating the matter into a direct insubordination case that could waste valuable time and resources. A direct refusal—though justifiable—would likely have resulted in disciplinary processes aimed at determining who was “right” between myself and the Minister. Instead, my approach created a balanced middle ground.

At the end of the day, I did not comply with the Minister’s request, as it was unlawful and strayed into my operational functions, which fall solely under my authority. While I managed the situation with tact and without open confrontation, my actions ensured that the operational independence of my office was preserved.

  7. When the question was first post to him, he actually kept on saying it will depend, until the Commissioner breathed down his neck and the english was too much and he said yes, he will not comply.

  8. This goes to show how our current President is useless. He should have been the middle man between Masemola and Mchunu, we honestly wouldn't be here🤞🏽. Honestly I don't think former President Mbeki would have just sat still when the SAPS National Commissioner and Minister of Police were not seing eye to eye. Honestly… Mr Masemola and Mkhwanazi have tried hy🤞🏽. This ANC must be removed, we are starting next year during local government elections, and we finish them in the next national elections🤞🏽😩.

  9. The phased out approach looks like Masemola was trying to buy time
Unfortunately, he found it hard to express himself
Really tough discussion about the unlawful instructions from the minister
The man got grilled for sure

  10. We shouldn’t be here if Your President intervened but as usual he was busy fighting for foreigners and other counties while his own country crying for help. What a useless president we have. Well done Gen Masemola and Gen Mkhwanzi 🙌🏽✊🇿🇦

  11. One doesn't need to be a genius to see that the words "Criminal psychopathic political interference in fighting organized crime" and "Criminal psychopathic political corruption in fighting organized crime" are written all over this case so far. We are unbelievably lucky to have Generals Mkhwanazi, Masemola and Khumalo.

  12. What makes it easier for Mkhwanazi to do this is because he is the master mind behind this sitting but as for Ntate Masemola it is to him a support he is giving to Mkhwanazi and I think he chose the right side.

  13. ON THE WINDING DOWN:

Clearly, General Masemola was not clear about what course of action to take. The winding down is implemented as a job preserving method. There was now an appreciation that something bigger was amiss, but it wasn't clear what exactly it was. Was there an attempt to remove him? So, what we can say is that there was a mistake there on his part, which demonstrates how complicated the space where political power affects or intersects with public service work is. What Madlanga might not appreciate is that he as a judge can defy an unlawful instruction because no one can remove him unless he is impeached, which requires substantial charges against him. What this demonstrates is the complicated mess under which Directors-General operate in, where they are easily at the mercy of political heads. The question at 5:30:52 is quite critical because it's clear we need to build safeguards into the system that are beyond the President. The Portfolio Committee as an oversight body failed here.

  14. For those who worked or working in government from middle management. You understand and know what gen masemola and mkhwanazi are talking about " interference of ministers in the department's 😢. Very frustrating that caused many to resign, to hospitals if not dead.
