US Proposes African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Without South Africa | Firstpost Africa | N18G

Tensions between South Africa and the United States are rising as a new US Senate bill proposes extending the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) while removing South Africa from the trade programme. Relations soured after Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about land seizures and alleged “genocide,” followed by a US boycott of Africa’s G20 summit. South Africa warns that losing AGOA—vital for duty-free access to US markets and billions in exports, especially agriculture—could severely impact its economy. As Washington cites concerns over geopolitics, China’s influence, and U.S. interests, President Cyril Ramaphosa faces mounting pressure amid escalating diplomatic tensions.

  1. I love the way all the comrades and racist supporters of the deranged anc government think that by denying the Malema footage, denying what some government poleticians said ,denying confirmed farm murders…..that its all simply just going to go away🤣. They think that by pushing some sort of denial narrative the freely available footage on YouTube is just going to disappear🤣.

  2. I JUST THINK IT'S FUNNY HOW THIS WHOLE CAMPAIGN IS HURTING FARMERS THE MOST–FARMERS WHO EXPORT TO THE US, MEANWHILE THE AFRIFORUM AND SOLIDARITY WERE CLAIMING TO CHAMPION FOR THE FARMERS. SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LIE? THE TRUTH WILL FIND ITS WAY TO THE LIGHT IN DUE COURSE.

  3. AGOA benefits whites farmers the ones who were whispering to US about white genocide with the hope that US will saction black political parties unfortunately things went south…careful what you wish for 😂😂😂😂

  4. How is even agoa going to help any African country when America straight out said they are closing their embassies, you need visa to travel to United States to sell your goods.Africs need to forget about their past including their imperial and colonial masters.

  5. Part of me says that the South African Government should suck up to Trump and do everything possible to help our economy but the better part of me knows that Trump is a narcissistic 4 year old bully who does not even know what the word 'truth' means, is it really worth selling our souls to appease such a vile creature. Our best hope is that the American people will wake up and realize the damage that he is doing, to not just America, but to the world at large.

  6. Baseless claims?
in the 80''s, farm crime involved stock theft, they did not go to the farm house.
Now you have people go to the farm hose and murder the people, they and they take nothing, no vehicles, no live stock, so what was their purpose? Scare farmers off their land?

  7. Please stop saying "South Africa." The Black minority ANC, who got 40% are the one's that Trump is fighting.
We live here in SA, and we know.
They sing, "Kill the farmer, Kill the Boer," who are Afrikaners, which the courts say is OK.
    Coloured living in Johannesburg,SA

  8. As a South African, I'd be glad if we get out of AGOA. As they say, it is for nations that advance US interests. If you're a sovereign country and not a puppet its not for you. So, maybe its time South Africa changed its economic dependencies and look elsewhere. Strangely though, the owners of businesses benefitting from AGOA are white farmers. The very same ones Trump claims are suffering a genocide. I think its time we are set free from being US stooges. We will have some pain, but that's good because it will help us stand on our own two feet as a country.

  9. Invite them and show them the videos again. They seem to forget that no amount of denial will take them away……videos and confirmed farm attacks and murders= CONFIRMED

  10. When they banned Uganda, their trade with United States was only 10 million. They can easily pick that up in African markets. And south Africa merchants are already very organized, they sell food outside south Africa, even have a few banks outside south Africa.

  11. Maybe America did not understand that there is nothing they can do to us we can do some to chacing away their banks and holding our resouses to empower our selves dont mind my spelling so that you can understand that I can react without consiquences and your enemies are watching with curuiosity, you treatened me once now it is my tern to return the favior, I want my money and I want now, I will go halabaluu, how do treatened someone who has died and come to live with death i hope you Americans you know, today every body is afraid of me you better as long your banks are within my rich you pay or take what is mine your decision. Hopola ke motho wa moya ke lakatsa hlophe mmpinele mankepe pele ke ferekana.
