MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The 12th annual Sister Strut on Tiger Lane was a success.
More than 5,000 women registered to show their support and raise awareness for breast cancer.
Many said they were walking, strutting for survivors and those currently battling breast cancer.
The walk is a fundraiser raising awareness in the Black community and providing information on early detection and treatment options.
African-American women have a 41% death rate from the disease, higher than Caucasian women in the same age group, according to the American Cancer Society.
The planning for next year’s event in Memphis is already in the works, with plans for it to be bigger and better.
